The stairs went deep into the ground. Harvey felt he must have been 3 to 4 stories down when the stairs finally ended in a two way hallway. Which way would Kalar and Harvey go, left or right?a

Harvey looks both ways before making his choice. If nothing sticks out as particularly interesting, he'll shrug and go left.

Kalar focuses on his holy symbol, then releases the power into himself allowing him to scan the area for any who might be hiding.

Off to the left, Harvey finds no traps. Kalar, however, does detect the thoughts of a person lurking nearby. They soon find the person, a thin man, asleep on a chair in a corner of a dark room. Also in the room is an ornate door. The door seems locked, but Harvey doesn't see any traps.

Kalar holds his sword up to the man's face and taps him a few times on the cheek with it.

"Wake up, friend. We would like to ask you a few questions."

Harvey doesn't have time for this. He gets his picks out and sets to work on the door. For Harvey, this kind of work is routine. Think like a lock.. just take it easy.. makin a mistake is where the mistakes get made. Once the lock is picked (or not), he'll wait to open the door till they've talked more to the man.

He's using Skill Mastery to take ten on the check.

Rob asks Lynda "Did Harvey or Kalar say where they were rushing to? Were they going for the chapel tower?"

"Honestly Rob, I have no idea. Harvey came to me in a rush, asking me to drop off stuff to Kalar. He mentioned something about looking for a Kobold...and then took off for town again."

Rob scratches his chin "Kobold, eh? Azedarc said something about that when Harvey and I spotted him in the woods"

As soon as Rob spots any townsperson, he will ask in the most charming tone he can muster "Excuse me, good Sir/Lady, which way to the Kobold?"

As they walked through town, Lynda and Rob saw many people gawking at the sky like turkeys in the rain. None of them seemed to have any idea what a kobold was let alone where to find one. As they searched, they unknowingly walked right by an odd looking alleyway where their other companions were.

"Who are you? Get away from that door," the no longer sleeping man cried as he woke up. Harvey had already made short work of the door's lock and had come over to assist with the man's questioning.

Lynda and Rob arrived at the monk commons to find the monks praying in a group on in an open courtyard. There were easily 30 monks gather here, all sitting on the ground. None of them seemed to react as the pair approached.

As he is speaking, Kalar channels divine energy through himself, alerting him to the presence of magic.

Used Command power of mask. DC 19 resist.

Without getting too close to the praying monks, Rob looks for any conspicuous rings on their fingers, and listens to see if he can make out the words to any of their prayers.

Harvey doesn't have time for this. "I'm Foolsgold, he's Paleface. There's a kobold gonna destroy the whole city unless we get some quick answers. And you wouldn't even believe what's going on in the sky right now!"

The man sneered but did kneel. "That is the door to the mistress's private chambers. Entering it would incur the wrath of the whole Guild of Spyte," the man said. "As for the meteor, I am well aware of the danger, as is Mistress Spyte. I don't get what that has to do with kobolds though. I'm not sure there are even any kobolds in this kingdom.

Meanwhile, Rob and Lynda crept around the crowd of monks, looking for rings. In total, they counted 11 rings. Only 4 of these rings seemed blackish enough to be the ring they were looking for as they had heard it described.

Harvey doesn't have time for this. "Kobold monk.. wears a nice ring? Not ringing any bells? Rouse your mistress if you have to.. if we don't find this guy, there won't be any guild left to wrath-cur us!"
