The inquisitor doesn't seem to notice Harvey and passes just a few feet from him as he heads in Rob's direction. It's subtle, but Harvey could tell. This inquisitor had spotted Rob.

Harvey runs down the possibilities: The guy pulls that fireball trick that Jehan tried and Rob dies. The guy calls out to the others that someone's in the woods and we both die. Wait.. and maybe one of those other things happens. Take the shot... he probably dies, maybe even goes down quiet.. can the boys in the clearing see him from here? It'd at least open up a brief window to run.. They might just think he tripped..
No time to wait. Can't risk him crying out. Harvey unleashes his Psionic Focus into a hateful shot for the "quiet spot" in the sucker's upper spine, and hastily adds a more spontaneous second shot. Azedarc was right, slimehole, you're all in danger. The seconds stretch like hours as he waits to see if the guy goes down.. waits to see if the other two notice.. one way or another, whatever happens next has to happen quick.

He never saw it coming. There was no cry, there was no time, the man was dead before he hit the ground. Harvey watched as the other two continued on their way, unaware that their comrade was now dead.
The man held a trident, which, when dropped to side side during the final second of his life, began to glow with a light blue arcane power. He seemed to also be carrying a number of things in a small pack on his belt. Other than his uniform and amulet, that seemed to be all the man possessed.

With dusk falling and the protection offered by night approaching, Kalar decides to begin putting his plan into action.
"Rachelle, Lynda, I'm going to head up into the skies to keep an eye out for Harvey and Rob's signal. Now that it's dark, if they use that wand of light, I should be able to see it fairly easily from above. If the beast shows itself, then with luck, I'll be able to use those tankards. I'll have Jim and the skeletons keep watch here, just in case."
With that, Kalar takes the rope with the dozens of tankards and wooden spikes attached and flies up into the air. He'll ascend at least a thousand or so feet and keep his holy symbol exposed, that way the darkness produced by the symbol, the natural darkness of night, and the sheer altitude will keep him concealed while allowing for a good view of the area. With luck, midnight will arrive before the beast exposes itself.

"Don't worry, they won't see us..." Rob begins to whisper to Stumpy, when suddenly and silently, he sees one of the men go down with a little spurt of blood.
After the other two have passed by, he adds; "Especially not that one."
Rob moves as carefully and quietly as he can to rejoin Harvey.

As Kalar climbs high into the sky, he decides to fly a bit higher than he did when he was flying above the bugs before. To his surprise, he passed through some sort of barrier. He was surrounded by the mist. The mist began to burn him like acid. He quickly retreated, but before he did, he noticed a large ball of fire and rock above him in the mist. It seemed to be hurtling towards him.
Then he was in the calm sky above the hill again, having backed out of the mist. The mist had none little to no damage, but it felt as if he might die if he stayed.

That was... interesting... Kalar make a mental note to explore that further, and to learn more about it if he can. For now, he remains at his present altitude, circling around the area and keeping watch for Harvey and Rob. Mentally, he orders his skeletons to form a perimeter around the camp, just in case.

Harvey isn't sure what to make of a glowing trident.. some kind of curse? Some kind of trap? Better to leave it alone. He drags the body back behind a tree, better safe than sorry, and nabs the small pack and belt. The amulet... it's risky, but Harvey uses the dead man's robe to keep from touching it and hooks it onto the belt. If it were gonna tell the others he was dead, it probably would've done it by now.
There's no time for more serious looting, much as Harvey'd love to strip the bastard down.. but Harvey is careful to inspect the corpse's fingers for any rings. Reason for the season, hehe. It's as good a time as any to regain his focus. Those other two guys might have to get just as dead.
Rob's coming this way... WHY IS HE COMING THIS WAY?! He approaches the bard, making gentle shooing gestures with his hands and silent "WE HAVE TO GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE" gestures with his face

"All right, all right", Rob whispers, and moves silently in the direction that Harvey indicates with his hand gestures.
"Should we signal Kalar with that wand?" he whispers when he is close to Harvey.

Harvey thinks about it... it might work! And would save a lot of time. "Okay, here's what I think we do. You ride off there, you take the wand. When I'm in position, I'll give you a thumbs up, we count to 5, you light the wand and I'll bring down one of the guys and hopefully in all the confusion, I can take down the other one too. Whatever happens, you ride and try to warn your friends about the two. If someone survives and comes after me, I'll give 'em the slip in the woods. If they come after you, I'll shoot 'em in the back. Chances are we both make it."
"Before we go, here's what I overheard: One of the men killed a guy, and the body is still in his basement. Azedarc knows there's a magic aura over the town, but he doesn't know what it means. He told his boys to stay out of town, there's a meteor coming SOON and a Kobold who'll destroy the entire area. But he was real worried about that ring... said they'd all be in danger if someone were to get it. Sounds promising to me.. we gotta get it."
"I know a lot of this plan involves me. If you prefer a more direct assault, I'm all for it. I wouldn't trust my life to a stranger either."
"Or.. we can just slip off after the other two and light the signal later. Jumping the two of them is the most dangerous part of the plan and right now we should be warning the others and moving on that ring. I can't see which path is the more succesful."

"The more I think about it, the more I think we should just warn the others. We can get away easily, and we shouldn't waste the opportunity. Our job is the ring, afterall."

Rob takes a moment to absorb the plan, then nods agreement, and takes the signal wand. He rides away in the direction Harvey indicated, and awaits the thumbs up to activate it.

Harvey sneaks back to a sniping position, hopefully close enough to really let the boys in the clearing have it. This is the right move, kill 'em dead and we have more freedom to pursue the guys chasing our party. And if we can't handle it, the signal will at least warn the party anyway. It's a great plan.
Once in the best possible position, he sizes up the boys in the clearing. Are they looking at each other? If they're both looking the same direction, the target of choice is the one in the back, where his friend won't see. If they're looking at each other, whichever one looks stronger/more experienced will be the target of choice.
Either way, the target of choice is a very lucky boy. He'll receive a Greater Psionic Shot, followed up by a second shot, just like the bloke in the woods got, with more to come for anyone left standing after the initial onslaught.
Knowing the plan, and knowing that it's the best route, Harvey takes a second to breathe. Thumbs up!
One...
Two...
Three..
Four...

The arrow flew a little tot he right and instead of a fatal shot, the inquisitor was only gravely injured. The two quickly turned around and faced Harvey. It would be hard hiding now that they both had him in their sights. Before Harvey could get another arrow ready or retreat, the Inquisitors removed their amulets. The bracers worn by wounded inquisitioner produced purple auras. The other inquistioner flew up 5ft off the ground and readied his spike chain.

"Damn! They didn't see it!" Rob exclaims as the men ignored the light from the signal wand
