"Would a posted guard at a members-only secret passage in a mysteriously nice alley interest any of you?" smiles Harvey as he returns to the group, shaking off unspeakable dust from the unspeakable things he hid under.

"Interesting."

Kalar returns to the others, relaying the information he's learned.

He concludes with: "As the man said that the leader lives in the tower, I suspect that the abbot is the beast. If we can strike against him first, we might be able to take the ring before the beast appears."

He then outlines his plan for a nighttime assault.

After getting changed and cleaned up, Lynda will head back to the camp to meet up with the rest of her party.

The adventurers gathered around as Kalar laid out the plan he had for that night. Eventually, Lynda joined them. The day went on in this way. It was late afternoon by the time Kalar had planned everything out.

"I don't like it, it cuts things too close. Suppose he isn't in that room, what then? We wait for him? We should be back out there, canvassing the city. Or waiting outside this building to jump him BEFORE he gets all comfy cozy inside."

Harvey backs out of the circle, uneasy about everything all of a sudden. "How well do we know this other curse-breaker? Suppose this is a trap to get us out of the way.. we kill Jehan and he starts gettin' cold feet. Maybe he wants us to piss this beast off and get every heavy the Inquisition has in one place. Bait in a gigantic trap, you ever think of that?"

He then begins dumping Jehan's stuff, and the backpack of scattered goos from the bear victim onto the ground. "If we're gonna do this, we need to pool our assets." He then clarifies the matter of the teleporting rubies.

Kalar took two of them from Jehan's corpse and I don't think he used either of 'em yet. Harvey used one to follow the party and took two more before he left, giving us a total of four. Everyone should have one as an emergency "Get out of jail free" card. Teleport back to the hill and make a run for it.

"Ugh, I'd rather not wander aimlessly into that dreadful city again." Lynda says. "I was pickpocketed and hounded by local thugs. They bought in to my innocent act too much and saw me as a target. So, I killed them all. Ruined my last dress, but it was worth the look on their faces when I murdered them."

Lynda holds out her hand.

"I even managed to get a pretty little ring out of it. Wrenched it from the bastards cold dead hands." She says, admiring her ring.

"Concerning the beast, I'm not sure how useful I can be, now that most my abilities are locked behind this amulet. It would be much easier to do some espionage and go in to forbidden areas if I could use my ghost powers without risking an icy death."

"I am in favor of Kalar's plan." Says Rob. "I trust my Father. We need to do whatever we can to get the Ring from the monk before he reveals his full power as the Beast.

"I believe we should hedge our bets. Harvey, continue searching the city, learning what you can. Here, take this."

Kalar hands him his wand of light.

"I am not sure if you'll be able to use it, but if you can, you can use it as a signal."

To Lynda he says:

"Lynda, my dear, I believe Dan gave you some means of flight? If you could lend whatever it is to Harvey here, that would be capital. He can use it to escape any hostile forces if he gets caught while searching. As for it being a gigantic trap, it's a possibility. One reason I wish to wait until after midnight to play our hand. That way, I will be at the height of my power, better able to deal with a trap if we are indeed to be caught in one.

To Rob he says:

"Rob, you know this city better than any of us. Maybe there's something that can be of aid to Harvey in knowing where to search?"

Kalar already used two to get himself and Hrulgin back from the castle.

"I'm not sayin we should split up again either.. just sayin'." Harvey sheepishly replies, returning to the circle. He's useless without a team and he knows it.

"Splitting up is indeed not ideal, but it might be the best way for us to gather information. If you wish, while you scout the city, I can maintain surveillance from the air. That way, I can signal to any of you if there is trouble brewing."

"Harvey, I can join you in further scouting."

"And that entrance you found does sound interesting. If it is related to the Inquisition, it may prove useful"

"Very well. Harvey, you have the wand I gave you. If you aren't able to use it, then you can give it to Rob, I'm fairly certain he'll be able to. You can use it to signal us if you need our aid. In the meantime, I will remain here, preparing for the potential battle."

Kalar focuses on his holy symbol, then releases the divine energy, willing an invisible force to come into being. He then directs it to the surrounding trees, ordering it to create as many crude wooden weights as possible. He requires that they be roughly conical with a loop at the top section and fins at the sides and each weighing roughly a pound. As each one is completed, he'll string them onto the rope where the tankards are attached.

Spell Used: Unseen Crafter

Lasts for 10 days. Has a craft bonus of +8, can take 10 for a check of 18.

Assuming same price as a tankard, 2 cp. Also assuming difficulty is high-quality item (DC 15) because of the shape of the carving.

In one week, the unseen crafter can make 1,350 of those items. Dividing by 7 and rounding down, in one day (8 hours of work) it can make 192 of them, all strung along the rope that Kalar has.

Harvey led Rob back to the odd alley. The guard was still on duty.

"Well, here we are. Guy showed up, out of place kinda guy. Flashed somethin in his pockets and got let in. Couldn't make out what it was. What's our play?"

Rachelle had not paid much attention to the planning. In truth, she wasn't even really there. The book had completely enthralled her. At first, she was reliving her life as an elf. However, soon she was human girl in the countryside. She led a peaceful life full of friendship and love. Then things changed again. She was flying. Her feathery wings fluttered as she flew towards a wicked looked fortress. A gargoyle appeared out of the castle and flew her way. She felt a holy power build up inside of her. She reached out her hand and a holy ray of light shot out. It tore the gargoyle apart.
Rachelle closed the book, she had just finished reading the last page. It dawned on her that what she had been reading were not the random stories of strangers but rather her own past lives. She felt a tiny spark of holy light flare up inside of her.

Meanwhile, Harvey and Rob sat behind some old boxes. Just as they were wondering how long they would need to sit there before something happened, five men in masks and burlap robes walked by. They did not turn down the strange alley, however Rob had seen the spiked chain on the hip of one of them before. Even with the robe and mask, Rob could tell this was tall man that Voulton have left with. The five men seemed in a rush as they walked by.
