Rob shields his eyes from the morning sun, and looks to the shadows where Harvey is pointing.

"If you can catch him alive, I can get some answers out of him." Rob says confidently

Rachelle takes out her quarterstaff, readying herself to respond to whatever that dwarf plans on doing.
...did they really get rid of all the werewolves, or did some somehow manage to slip through the cracks?

A massive bear breaks through the bushes less than 100ft to the West. Beyond a simple dire bear, this bear is the biggest bear anyone in the party has ever seen. Rob swears he heard a legend about a bear this size once.
The bear roared at the party. At that same second, a nude, hairy, dwarf ran in front of the bear. "No Daisy! They aren't with those two. They don't even know where the babies are," the dwarf said to the bear with his arms outstretched. The bear stopped it's approach, despite the massive size difference. The dwarf turned his head quickly towards the party and in a serious yet hushed voice said, "Run!"

Rachelle bolts back to the road as fast as possible. There is no way she's dealing with a bear even worse than the ones that managed to kill her.

Harvey isn't sure they'll be able to out run such a monster, but gives it a shot anyway. When the bear stops to eat Rachelle, maybe it'll be distracted long enough to land a decent shot. It was exciting in imagination, and now that it's really happening it's even better!

Rob remembers that you aren't supposed to run from bears, you are supposed to play dead... but that is probably for normal bears, and not Giant Dire Vampire Bears.

He gets Stumpy ready to flee, and holds his hand ready to help either Rachelle or Harvey (but not both) into the saddle with him, but he does not actually flee unless the others agree to do so.

He judges the Bear to be outside the range of his Charm Monster spell, but if the bear comes within range, he will try casting it.

"Very well, if there are no further questions and if the four of you are on board with this, Hrulgin and I shall be off. I shall return within the week to check progress."

Assuming none ask him any questions, he will leave the ghouls to their mission. He will teleport back to where he left the party, Jim, and Jehan's body. As for Hrulgin, he'll have him teleport near Moriamis place, which he gauges to be relatively close to where they are now.

Lynda readies herself to run with Rob.

"W-what is the meaning of this?" Lynda says as calm as she can. "I'm just a displaced noblewoman with my travelling companions. We mean no harm."

Kalar appeared inside the still standing salt dome. In the distance, he heard a roar.

The party quickly gathered back on the road. There was no sign of the bear chasing them.

A roar, that can't be good. The last time the others ran into something, bad things happened. He does wonder though, if the others are fine. For now though, he has business to attend to. First, he uses one of his javelins to pick at and widen the opening of the salt wall to get Jim out.

Once that's done, he approaches Jehan's body and presses his holy symbol to the body. He channels divine energy into it, accessing whatever memories were left in the body. He asks:

"What does Azderac know of Baalzebul's forces encroaching from the north?"

"What is the connection between Azderac, Moriamis, and Nathaire?"

"Typically, what defenses does Azderac have on his person?"

"Is Azderac aware of any organized opposition against him?"

"How can we prevent any future Inquisition agents from attacking us?"

As soon as he gets his answers, he will cast another spell on the body, to keep it fresh. Then he'll load the corpse onto the cart and hitch it up to the last remaining mule before heading off with Jim towards where he figures the others will have gone.

"So perhaps now we can guess what killed poor old Gerard de l'Automne and his friends.... they messed with Giant Dire Vampire Bear Cubs..."

Rob feels surprisingly little urge to avenge his friend's death. He was a decent guy... but really

Harvey looks around, surprised no one's been eaten yet. "Are her and the dwarf in cahoots? Is this a flim-flam?"

"Excellent."

Kalar pats the corpse on the head and says:

"You and I shall speak more in the morning. I have more things I wish to ask you."

He loads the corpse onto the cart, hitches it to the mule, and heads off. He takes to the skies, hoping to get a better view of the area while making sure to keep Jim and the mule in sight.

Lynda shakes her head.

"It's no boop on the nose, but that dwarf just kept us from getting mauled." She says.

"Either way, we shouldn't dawdle. Lets keep heading towards Perigon."
