"Perigon." Lynda says. "We still need to find the last item pertaining to the curse. It's the Ring of Eibon, possessed by the hero Luc de Chaudronnier..."

"Though Dan told us the true nature of this curse, finding this item is the last thing we have left."

"Can't just leave his stuff here." Harvey says, starting to gather and load Jehan's stuff. "You think I'm tryin to cheat you, speak up. You want any of it, speak up. Perigon sounds reat. We bump off this Chaudronnier, we nab his jewelry and we're home in time for breakfast."

"I'll take one of the healing potions, if you don't mind." says Rob, looking at the loot that Harvey is pocketing. "And I think Lynda could make good use of that necklace of fireballs from her flying vantage point"

"As for Luc de Chaudronnier, let's not get our hearts set on fighting him just yet, we don't even know what he is all about. I suggest we find out which kind of hero he is first. Is he called a hero because the people of Perigon love him? Or is he the 'self declared' kind of hero?"

"I've been to Perigon a couple times when I was a kid, that was a long time ago, and I was drunk more than half the time, and chasing skirts more than the other half of the time, so I don't even remember anybody even mentioning him."

Rob stares of into space, lost in a memory of performing songs as a young bard for a roomful of excited Perigonese noble-ladies

"I distinctly remember being told by someone...was it Gaspard? Or Helena? Maybe even Moriamis? I can't remember...either way, they told us he was known as a "Religious Hero", so to speak." Lynda says.

"Besides, why spring to fighting first? We've got looks. We've got charm. We've got cunning linguistics. Granted I'm halfway to being a popsicle from hell, I still have my words. We could try to talk him down or convince him. And on the very good chance he's an arrogant prick who won't give us the time of day, I'll take my amulet off, shake his hand goodbye, and when he collapses to the ground screaming furiously about his bloody stump of an arm, we'll rob him blind and run off. Easy peasy."

The party was off. It would still be a good deal of time before they would reach their destination.

Meanwhile, Kalar rallied the undead troops. Ghost Arden reported that only a handful of the creature remained near the cabin. However, the amount of rumble in the way of entrances seem huge. Collapsing those pillars seemed to come close to destroying the whole dungeon.
Kalar didn't find anything else of note in the dungeon. The runed bones and trap rooms seemed interesting but had previously been explored.

The rest of the party had been traveling for about half an hour, when they came upon a blood trail. There seemed to be a great deal of blood and the trail seemed to go off into the woods.

"Oh he thinks he can escape, huh? Not today!" Harvey exclaims, getting his bow ready and foreseeing massive amounts of violence in Jehan's immediate future. "I bet the bastard's LAUGHING at how he fooled us. He'll be laughing when my arrow flies out of his mouth."

The assassin starts moving tree to tree following the trail, keeping an eye out for ambush or trap.

It occurs to everyone, except Harvey, that it's very unlikely this trail was cause by Jehan. Also, despite jogging off and actively trying to follow the trail, Lynda is able to follow the trail far better and easily out paces Harvey.

"Oh, so you think that wasn't really Jehan that we killed back there?..." But Havey is hunting already.

Rob follows cautiously. He wants to give Harvey space to track the bloody trail without feeling crowded, but to keep close enough by that he can help if needed.

Even if the assassin's guess is wrong, big trails of blood do often lead to interesting things

"I'm deeply concerned about following this trail. I'm harshly limited due to this amulet and my condition, so I do not know how well I'll be able to fight if trouble arises..."

Despite Lynda's hesitation, it wasn't long before the source of the trail was found. A grizzly scene laid on the ground. The corpse laid on the ground. One was in pieces. The head was no where to be found and large chunks were missing from the torso. It looked like a wild animal had feasted upon it. The giant claw marks showed the party just how grizzly the scene was.
Rob recognized the second man. His name was Gerard de l'Automne. Gerard was a fellow bard that Rob had often traveled with. Adventurous and well mannered, he was always a pleasure to be around. Now he lay here dead. Rob tried to tell if he knew the other man, but there wasn't enough of him left to identify. Gerard was charismatic and could have taken on anyone as a traveling partner, so Rob was at a lost as to who the other person might be.

Lynda quickly hurries to search the two men.

"We need to get out of here, fast. I'd rather not find out what murdered these men, and become next."

"I thought you were the first to jump into danger! Sides that, whatever did this already had his fill. We're the safest people in the world right now." Harvey starts checking the body for valuables. "Nice bit about wildlife.. they never check their pockets!"

"Rachelle was mauled to death by bears." Lynda explains. "She was once an elf, much like me. However, after she was torn to bloody chunks by dire bears, we brought her to Moriamis the pagan sorceress, and she reincarnated in to a whole other race."

"Either way, I've seen what animals can do. People can be reasoned with or easily maimed, but aggressive beasts are a bit out of my scope."

Harvey looks carefully at Rachelle. That ferocious thing, an elf?! "Nah!" and goes back to investigating the bodies. "Big beasts are easy, nothin's ever hurt 'em before. Bop on the nose and they go runnin like puppies." Harvey laughs at the thought. "Cows are what scares me. Herdin' around all day, waitin' to get eaten. Every cow you see has been tough enough to dodge the dinner plate so far. He'll fight you till he's burger, hahahaha!"

The clearest item of note on the corpses is the weapon near Gerard. Rob knew this to be Gerard's magic glaive. The blade was silver and the other end sharpened and blessed. Gerard often said it was made to fight vampires. Gerard always talked about fighting vampires. Also on Gerard is a chain mail, a small shield, a rapier, and a bag containing; two books, a sack of coins (33gp), 5 rations, a rope, a bedroll, and a light tent.
The other man had armor on that seemed to be destroyed. A bastard sword, a dagger, a backpack with it's contents scattered. 3 torches can be found near the backpack.
