"Hmm... That is not good. I have some other ideas, but they will have to wait for another time. For now though, I advise you to keep your amulet on for now, at least until we find a means to remove it."

Kalar stands and moves to Jim.

"For now though, I am off to retrieve Hrulgin and perhaps any of the items we left behind there. I will order Jim to follow the group around. If I am not back within the day, assume that both Hrulgin and I have been destroyed."

Kalar focuses on his holy symbol and then touches Jim. He wills himself to be part of the negative energy infusing the necrosis carnex, pulling himself into Jim, through the negative energy plane, and out of Hrulgin.

Spell Used: Door of Decay (Complete Champion)

Harvey spends the morning meditating as well, regaining his focus and revisiting the actions of yesterday. Jehan's suffering was beautiful, but could it have been better? The arrow was sharp enough to go in, but not so sharp as to come all the way through. That was pretty wicked, gotta remember that when makin the heads, hehe. Saves time sharpening.

Would it have been better if the arrow had spun more? Drilled into the wound and been nastier to poke back out? Maybe the shaft could've busted, scattering splinters all through him? Stuff to think about when makin' the next batch anyway.

Once he's done, he'll double check Jehan's body. "What kinda assassin only carries one dagger? He either hid one somewhere or he was dumber than I thought." Harvey announces to no one in particular, justifying his action.

Spoonweaver wrote:The tale of the Curse of Cocytus comes to mind as Rob thinks about Lynda. Cocytus is said to be a river in the underworld that is so cold, nothing can live in it. One touch, and the frost begins to creep all over your body, turning you to ice. You're frozen so solid, that not even death can pierce the ice. The river's victims remain frozen alive, forever.
In the morning, Rob remembers and repeats the story of the Curse of Cocytus to Lynda. (Above)

"Sadly," Rob adds, "The story makes no mention of a counter curse"

Harvey looks up from his search. "Shouldn't stick around. Azedarc mentioned watchin groups like us, and Jehan was spyin on you through a mirror before he made his move. Oughta find a way to block it if we wanna live very long."

Kalar pulls himself out of Hrulgin, finding the process harder than he thought it should be. "That was quite unpleasant," said Hrulgin. "I'd prefer you pull yourself through a mindless minion that you can full control over than I or one of the other ghouls I have brought who have a level of intelligence enough to make this process uncomfortable."
Kalar found himself in the room in the dungeon with the well. Hrulgin was joined with 4 other ghouls. "It's good that you're here. Some of the ghouls I brought back with me had begun going back through the portal."

Meanwhile, the others began getting ready for the day's traveling ahead of them. Harvey found it odd that Jehan didn't have anything hidden on him. No secret pockets, no stashed away tricks. A total lack of preparation in his eyes.

"Indeed, but couldn't be helped. There were no others here that I was absolutely aware of and had seen for myself that I could use. I promise not to do it in the future barring any grave emergencies. But to business. What have you learned here? Also, some of our items were outside in the cabin, do you think there's any chance of us retrieving them? And were you able to find anything else in here that we might use in our escape?"

"I collapsed all four of the entrances here. There's tons of rock and dirt in between us and the cabin now. Which is good. Those creatures kept coming after you left. While I was collapsing the last entrance, several of them got in. Thankfully it was only the small ones," said Hrulgin.

"I see, so no getting out through there then. I have these gems of teleportation, they should be able to get us out. I would rather save them though, so if there's an alternate way out of here that would be great. What else were you able to find here? Any way we could escape without having to use these?"

"The only other way out would be through the portal I believe," Hrulgin said motioning towards the well.

"I see... Well, the situation isn't as bad as I had feared, but not quite as good as I had hoped. Are there any bodies remaining here? If I can animate them as zombies or skeletons, they might be able to screen our getaway when we attempt to escape."

Hrulgin replied, "Only the dead creatures and the various parts found in this place."

"Hmm, very well. Here take this."

Kalar hands Hrulgin one of the rubies.

"If we can't find our way out, then you can use that to teleport out of here. We'll be able to teleport to near Moriamis' place. There, we should be able to regroup with the others. The problem is, this will only work for the two of us, and I want to get all of us out of here. Come on, let's see if we can find anything of use."

Kalar will go around the ruins, trying to find anything that might have been left behind. He knows they didn't fully explore the bedroom where Lynda was poisoned, and it might be worth taking a second look at the mummy's crypt. The laboratory might be useful as well, there may have been some reagents or books that could prove useful.

Then he remembers something.

"What of the ghost who was here? He was a comrade of mine. He should be able to slip out easily enough, at least to scout around and see what the bugs are doing."

After half an hour of waiting for Kalar to return, the party began to make plans to travel without him.

"Away from here. He's startin' to stink." Harvey suggests, while cutting a souvenir scrap from the already ruined leather armor. "Look out for vultures, heh.. could use some more feathers."
