"That is good enough for me. Welcome to our little group then. In the morning, we will fill you in on what we know so far. I'm certain it will be of interest to you."

Bilchik grins. "In the morning. When we can lie about it."

"Indeed."

Kalar places his mask back upon his face and returns to Lynda to see how she is doing.

He extends his hand to shake Harvey's hand.

"Pleased to meet you. After we have rested, I would love to hear more about how you got into Azedarc's cathedral, how you got out again, and what you saw there."

To Kalar he says, "Was that a Potion of Time Travel you found on Jehan? That seems important. I wonder what he was doing with it?"

"I'm not sure, but it's safe to say that him having it is not good news. Might be best for you to hang onto it for now."

Kalar then considers the rest of Jehan's gear and picks out the two rubies and places them into one of his belt pouches. If they work, then he may be able to find and retrieve Hrulgin.

Harvey shows Kalar the two gems he'd had the presence of mind to take before coming through the mirror after Jehan. "Think these are more of the same. Might even have got 'em at the same place."

He gladly accepts Rob's hand with a laugh. "You don't sound like the strong, silent, fun-hatin type on the back of a horse I had you figured for. It's quite a tale an' I'll tell you all about it when we got the time." but the pressing matter is obviously Lynda.

Caring very little for Lynda's personal space, he gets out his Lens of Detection and searches her wound for anything physical that might be causing this. A coating of poison, bits of metal from the blade? If there were arrows that did this, you could shoot a moose and carry it a thousand miles without the meat goin' bad.

Lynda answers Rob, ignoring Harvey in her personal space.

"It was mentioned on the items scroll that Jehan was one of the ones able to brew time, along with Moriamis and Azedarc...given Moriamis's past, it seems like the ability to brew time is very much so an Inquisition thing."

She then turns to Harvey.

"I suppose while I'm still alive, I may as well make an introduction. I am Lynda Elanorandor. I started this quest in rags, and now I here I am with riches. I'm well known for grabbing most things that aren't nailed down within reason, and indulging in frivolous extravagances. I'm prone to being the first to start lying in a situation and I adore making fake names and stories for myself. I also tend to exploit my noble appearance for all its worth. Beyond that, I'm well versed in shifting planes, flying, can grow an extra set of arms, and I can cause walls and apparently peoples limbs to explode.

It's nice to meet you Harvey, and I'm sure you'll be a good addition to our party."

The tale of the Curse of Cocytus comes to mind as Rob thinks about Lynda. Cocytus is said to be a river in the underworld that is so cold, nothing can live in it. One touch, and the frost begins to creep all over your body, turning you to ice. You're frozen so solid, that not even death can pierce the ice. The river's victims remain frozen alive, forever.

None of the party's poking or proding seems to shed any light on the cause of the ever growing ice, or a likely cure. Even the camp fire seemed to have almost no effect on the ice.
Only the amulet seemed to stop the spread of the ice, but did not remove it.

"Lynda, you're very brave. If it was gonna kill ya, you'd be dead already. It lasted this long, so it's probably only supposed to hurt you and scare you. Wears off in a few days, that's my bet."

Lynda laughs.

"Oh, it's not you I'm concerned about dear. I've been stabbed in the neck by one of our previous party members while I was sleeping. Oh, and almost shot to death by an angry cleric. Oh, and the time I nearly died to a green giant who wanted me to cut his head off...and the time I nearly died of poison and vanished off the face of the world for a little while. Then there was the banquet, the tarot card reading, the time I jumped down a colossus's mouth...jeez, I've brushed with death a fair amount of times.

My choice of Wee Jas as my deity suddenly makes more sense..."

Lynda looks to her other party members.

"Is there nothing else to be done about this ice? Nobody we could consult? I'd rather not parade around like some frozen queen or something. Besides, I don't quite fussy the idea that I'm now reliant on the amulet to keep my life in balance. I like jewelry and all, but I don't fancy the idea that it's what's gonna be keeping me defrosted..."

"There are some spells I can attempt in the morning. But for now, it might be better for you to just rest. At least the amulet keeps it at bay for now."

Kalar turns to the rest and says, "Might also be good for the rest of you to get some sleep. Jim and I will keep watch."

With that, Kalar goes to the salt dome to break it open enough to get his necrosis carnex out.

Preparations were made. Fire's were lit and sleeping placed set up. With few bedrolls or blankets, the party turned to nature for comfort. Most of all, talk kept them warm. Despite being tired from their fight, the chit chat around camp took a while to die down. So much had happened and so much seemed soon at hand. The party fell asleep full of questions and wonder.

Meanwhile:
Tammytharn had just put the last of the children to bed. They were beginning to listen to her directions more and more easily. Thoughts of schooling and proper life preparation had begun to occupy her days and nights. "It's never too early to start preparing for your future," she'd often say to the children.
Tammytharn was thinking how the oldest girl would make a fine cleric as she brought a tray of food into Thistlewhistle's room. She didn't notice anything until well after she scooped up a small amount of soup to feed her sleeping companion. Thistlewhistle would not eat that food though. She was gone. The torch that refused to be parted from Thistlewhislte was gone as well. Tammytharn jumped up, her eyes darting around the room for some sign of what had happened. There was nothing. The latch on the window was still latched from the inside and no one would have easily entered or left the room without alert those nearby. Where had Thistlewhistle gone?

"Oooo, that last hit was nasty," Dan said as he looked into a scrying pool. "I guess that party won't be making it to Averoign after all."
"Don't be so entertained with the ill fate of others," boomed the dragon. "It's disgusting."
"Of course," replied Dan, regaining a measure of his composure. "I was merely glad that another time warp wouldn't take place so close to the meteor's arrival. With all these adventurers making it through the castle lately, I was beginning to think it would never get a chance to come."
"Again, you seem far too pleased with what will be a terrible event," the dragon said, this time with far less seriousness in it's voice. "The last time the beast was awoken, hundreds were slaughtered."
"It's the only way. If the beast doesn't show up, the curse can't be broken," said Dan.

The night passed peacefully. Rob finished the magical book he had been reading. As he did, the words on the pages all floated into the air, formed a large clump and then quickly traveled into his body. Rob knew this was going to happen and did not even fight it. According tot he book, this was the source of the power he would call upon in order to teleport. It seemed as clear as day to him now. All he needed to do was call upon the power inside of him and think of a place and he would be there. The book went into complex detail about the limits of the spell. The exact workings of teleporting into a mountain was a hard part of the book to read through. Seeing Rob finish his book, the others rushed to finish their own. No one else finished that night.
As Lynda slept, she tried hard not to scratch the icy patched on his chest and stomach. They were very cold and were beginning to itch. She did not sleep well that night.
Kalar toiled away and his plans and magical item creations. Jim sauntered nearby. Kalar wasn't sure why the other's thought so little of Jim. To Kalar, Jim was amazing.
Harvey was surprised at how at ease the others were with him around. They didn't even seem to flinch was he walked around camp. Every so often he caught them keeping an eye on him though. They seemed trusting, but not stupid.
Rachelle slept like a baby. The fight had given her a much needed rush after the last encounter that had taken place at night. She wondered how things would have gone if she was attacked the tall man with the chain like she had Jehan. Maybe Voulton would still be here. No use thinking about the past though. Rachelle's tough skin made the forest floor feel as soft as a queen sized bed. She was the first to fall asleep and last to wake up the next morning.

Lynda groggily looked to the others.

"I feel like the inside of a leather boot. This icy affliction also feels quite unpleasant to the flesh, not to mention I'm consistently freezing cold. So what is your plan to remove it from me, Kalar?"

"Yes, let me just meditate for a second."

Kalar focuses his mind, and then concentrates on his holy symbol, performing a Sending to Hrulgin, whom he hopes is still up and about.

Castle was overrun. Only able to contact now. Where are you? I can teleport to get you. If possible, be ready to teleport out immediately.

When that's done, he examines the mask he just finished. He places it onto his face and activates its power, concealing his evil nature from all who might attempt to find it.

As soon as he's ready, he moves to Lynda. He asks Lynda to remove the amulet for a second, and then to snap it back on should the spell fail. He then focuses divine energy into her, attempting to remove the curse.

Hrulgin replies "I saw. I sealed the Dungeon. I brought followers back with me."
As goes to cast remove curse on Lynda, Lynda has a brief vision of her connection to the ethereal plane being ripped from her. In that moment, she jerks back, ruining the spell.
