Rachelle swings her weapon at the scarab. It manages to avoid one of her swipes but is caught by the next. It withstands the blow and turns to attack back. Voulton, armed with a new axe thanks to the help of Rod, stops the scarab in it's takes. Before it dissolves back to it's home plane, the party can see that Voulton cut it almost completely in half.
Kalar shot a lance of sound at the mummy. It shredded a good deal of it's wrappings. Following this, Rob's hippogriff came flying in. It clumsily shoved through everyone and found it's way tot he back of the small room. It attack the mummy with a harsh fury.
The mummy was taking some punishment now. It quickly cast a spell, doing well to avoid the melee combat it was enthralled in. When it had completed it's spell, the whole room was engulfed in a deep darkness. No one in the party, not even the darkvision capable party members, could see a thing.

"Damn! I knew I should've killed him first!" Voulton takes advantage of the dark to privately shiver in fear at the thought that the mummy could be anywhere.

As the darkness fills the room, Rob quickly bursts into song, singing Song of Heroism on himself. He reasons that the sound of his voice may help his allies orient themselves in the room, while the magic of the song will make him harder to hit if the Mummy should focus on his voice and attack him.

Rachelle takes out what she hopes is a sunrod from her bag and activates it. Surely that should provide some way of seeing what's going on, right?

"Fool, that will not allow you to hide from me! Behold my power!"
Kalar holds forth his holy symbol and bursts into flames.

As the others struggle against the darkness, Kalar shrugs off the effects. He taunts the mummy's attempts. At the same time, he sees that the mummy seems to also be able to see in this deep darkness. Kalar lights himself on fire, protecting himself from grapple attempts from the flammable mummy. Kalar did not expect the flurry of blows that came his way instead. The mummy slugged Kalar in the face. then it hit him in the stomach and throat. Each one of it's blows connected despite Kalar's heavy armor, showing quite a bit of skill on the mummy's side.
Rachelle's attempt to dispel the darkness with a sunrod failed. As did Voulton's reflection on past choices. Rob's song helped the others a bit. It helped his hippogriff as it struck wildly at the mummy. It's attacks missed, but it came very close.
Kalar takes 17, 18, 20 dmg (55 dmg total)

"How can we fight him if we can't see him? Any bright ideas?!"

Agh, blast it.
"Fall back for now! We'll catch a breath on the other side and then destroy this monstrosity once and for all! Follow my voice!"
Kalar withdraws from the mummy, and then runs across the walls of the pit to get back to the other side. There, he drops to his knee behind his tower shield and keeps shouting to the others, giving them a sound to follow.

"Don't forget there's a big hole out there! Feel around for the rope.. and try not to act like a mummy!" Voulton doesn't move towards Kalar's voice, not wanting to cause a traffic jam or an avalanche. Instead he readies his shield and borrowed axe and concentrates on his senses. Smell, sound, vibrations from the ground. Anything that might let him brace for the coming blows... and respond with a few of his own.

Rob directs the hippogriff back out into the pit to act as safety under the rope. As he follows Kalar's voice, he keeps singing, to let the others know his position, but he does not raise his voice to loud. There is enough chaos in this little room right now!

Rachelle, not wanting to risk the pit when there's still so much going on over there [not to mention the whole total darkness thing], swings in the direction of the mummy.
She'll run once she feels there's room to breathe over by the pit, which hopefully should be the case in a few seconds.

Voulton focused his battle senses. He heard Kalar as he ran past him, across the wall, and over into the other room that he was told something called a beholder had been in. He feels the flutter of wings pass by him as the hippogriff flies back out of the room. He hears as it smacks into Bill, possibly injury one or both of them. He listened as Rob sang his song as he exited the room behind him. He knew that Rachelle was on his left when the lights went down. He could hear her drop a small rod of some sort and could also hear her common grunts she does before attacking.
The mummy watched as Kalar retreated. It looked around and continued to judge Kalar as the most threatening at the moment, so it followed him. It attempted to pass right by Voulton. But Voulton knew better. It only brushed slight against his arm, but Voulton knew only the mummy could still be in the room. His axe swung out wildly. It struck the mummy hard. The mummy stopped then, turning towards the creature that had just wounded it. It struck back, with a smashing overhand slam. Voulton never saw the hit coming. It smashed into his chest with immerse force. Voulton felt something else almost creep into his chest after the slam of the attack. His chest felt very dry.
Rachelle heard the attack. She attacked in the mummy's direction as well. She was also able to connect with a nasty attack. The mummy was in hurt after the unexpected attacks. It turned it's attention fully away from Kalar and now focused it on these two threats.

Again, Rachelle slams the clearly distressed mummy with her quarterstaff. Would defeating it break the spell of darkness and let them see again?
Hopefully.

Voulton presses the attack, vaguely aware now that the others are clear and that Rachelle also stayed to fight. Maybe her lizard eyes can see through this? "I think we're hitting him! I think he's hitting me!"

With few other options left open to him for now, Kalar sends negative energy into himself, healing the damage dealt.
