Most interesting. That place can wait though.

Kalar/Zombie moves back through the hallway, making for another of the unopened doors, again with skeletons in front and doing the opening.

Heading for the room directly north of 16 and west of 24.

Voulton looks around and tries to get an idea of where he might be. Hearing the men calling this dragon a God makes Voulton a little more respectful... but also a little more concerned about his motives. He isn't exactly sure what he's welcome to do and not to do, so he sits quietly for the time being.

"Well," said Dan, "If any of you are going to explore the town here, go do it. Otherwise, let's go back and retrieve the artifacts."
"What town?" Claire said.
One of the men that came in with the talking mouse replied, "You must have arrived magically. The town is right this way. I'll show you."
"What a gentleman," said Claire as she took the man by his arm. The two walked out of a rather large tunnel tot he cave. They turned the corner out of view of Voulton and Rachelle. Dan turned to Voulton and Rachelle with a questioning look, as if to ask if they were going too.

Kalar was busy exploring Nathaire's lair. He came to a door he had not yet opened. The doors of this room were thicker than normal. Upon opening the door, a rancid smell hits fileld the air. Kalar, being undead, didn't notice the smell. A pile of what seemed to be more than 20 bodies were stacked in the middle of the room here. The bodies seemed to still have quite a bit of their clothing and gear on. Kalar could see one of the bodies was even in a suit of scale armor.

Meanwhile, Hrulgin returned to Rob. He described the monsters he saw to Rob. By the time he was done explaining what they looked like and where they were, it was all but pointless. A group of them seemed to have followed Hrulgin somehow. Hrulgin began to question his stealth skills till the thought of their eyeless faces leads him to believe they had tracked him through non-traditional means. Five of the smaller creatures and two of the bigger creatures approached the wagon, stumpy, Hrulgin, Rob, Kalar's body and Kalar's guards.

Kalar/Zombie orders his skeletons to begin searching through the bodies, retrieving anything that might be of value. They'll have to carry everything outside, and Kalar/Zombie berates himself/itself for neglecting to bring along something to carry things in. After this room, he'll/it'll head back outside to inform Rob of his/its findings.

Hrulgin shouts to Rob, "Wake Kalar! Try to wake Kalar!"

Hrulgin hurls a Drow-poisoned dart at the closest of the uglies, hoping that whatever they are, they can be affected by poison.

Kalar's minions prolly won't attack yet, as they would only have been given orders to attack anything hostile. As the thingies haven't attacked yet, they're not yet hostile in the eyes of the minions I guess.

"Oh! I want to see the town. Didn't even know there was one!" Voulton hurries to follow the group back to town... though he isn't exactly sure what he's looking for.

Kalar's first skeleton never even made it to the first body. Shadowy tendrils shot out from the pile of bodies and tore the skeleton asunder. Large claws lashed out at the other skeleton. The second skeleton suffered a more complete onslaught as a vile shadow creature emerged from the pile. The two skeletons were destroyed. A ghost like creature resembling a wrath approached the zombie Kalar was possessing.

Meanwhile, Dan suggested Rachele join Voulton so that he could teleport everyone together later in the day. The group followed their mousey escort through a short series of caves. The emerged in what seemed to be a monostary. Dozens of men and women in clerical robes roamed the stone walk ways of the grounds. A large stone temple stretched high over the group. The temple was very simple and grey, with very little engraving or ornaments. The mouse and the men with him lead the party to the main room of the temple. There, several stalls were set up. The group explained that the stalls were that of a smith, an armorer, a wizard, an artificer, and so on. "Any item you can think of, we can make. We ask only for a donation to our church," said one of the men in the mouse's group. With that, the group left the three to their business. Claire was off towards a stall displaying fine dresses. Voulton and Rachelle stood in the middle of the stalls, surveying all there was to offer.

Back at the wagon, Rob successfully charmed the big red lead creature. It stopped in it's tracks, looking a bit confused. Hrulgin struck one of the small green ones. It seemed completely unaffected by the dart or it's poison. As the uncharmed creatures continued to advance, Rob tried to wake Kalar, with no success.

Voulton gave almost all his money to Kalar. "I'm afraid I've already got everything I need, but thank you." It feels wrong not to give something though, so he donates one of his platinum pieces from home. "I don't mean to sound like an idiot but... what is this place? Where are we?"

Rob jumps astride Stumpy, and prepares to take a deep breath in order to cast Shout at the pack of creatures. He will prefer to hit the ones he has not charmed, if possible.

Blast! Kalar/Zombie orders a complete retreat and then immediately ends the spell, returning to his own body.

Right, that didn't do any good. "Rob! Keep them off me!"

Hrulgin scampers off to flank (not the technical gaming term, but rather just moving to the side of the group) the uglies. He holds out a clutched hand at one of the weaker-looking of the group and wills it to fall asleep with the last spell he can use that day.

Spell used: Sleep (Will save DC 15)

Kalar called for his undead minions to retreat. As he did, he saw the strange wraith-like creature descending upon his bloodhulk. Kalar ended the spell before knowing what became of his undead underlings.

What at first seemed like a dire situation was quickly turned around by Rob and Hrulgin keen tactics. The skittering creatures charged in as Rob quickly mounted Stumpy. He rode straight at them as the one he charmed sat back behind the crowd. Rob's shout decimated the swarm. Rob managed to kill all but one of the small green ones and the uncharmed bigger red one. Hrulgin circled in and managed to put the bigger red one to sleep. The remaining small green one was met by the fist of a bloodhulk as Kalar, quick to act, ordered his undead troops to attack. The fight seemed won, for now. However, Hrulgin suggested that there might be many more of the creatures around.

"You are in the temple of the great silver dragon, my large friend," said a smith with a smile on his face. The smith, though in a leather apron, wore a silver dragon claw symbol like everyone else the party had met in this place. "I see that you're new here. We have all gathered here to live under the protection of the great dragon. Thanks to his majesty, this is the safest place to live in the whole kingdom. It also happens to be the only place in the kingdom where magic is freely used, despite being so close to Ximes. Anyways, thank you for your donation. Perhaps next time we meet, I could make a fine piece of armor for you?"

"Right, no time to relax, unfortunately. There's some kind of wraith-like creature down there, and it seems to be quite powerful. As I left, it was attacking one of my bloodhulks, but I don't know what became of it. There's also a beholder down there. I was hoping Lynda would be around to deal with it, but she's unconscious right now."

Then Kalar looks around.

"Wait a minute, where is Lynda? did those things grab her?"

Do enough remain of the bugs for Kalar to animate?

Hrulgin thinks quickly and moves towards the remaining three bugs. He tears at the smallest one, using his paralysis attack (DC 18 Fort) just in case he's not able to kill it in one go. With luck, they might also be infected with ghoul fever, but seeing how strange they look, Hrulgin doubts it will have any effect.

Mouse, upon chewing his spearmint leaves, regained his senses and realized that some mice do indeed talk, and he is one of them. He had great insight, for a mouse, and thus decided it would be prudent to help these adventurers to the best of his (admittedly limited) abilities.

"This mouse is Mouse the Mouse", said Mouse to the nearest humanoid, smiling brightly, "Please tell Mouse how mouse can be helpful!"

Rob tells Kalar what happened. "Lynda just vanished where she slept. That was before the critters arrived."

Rob calls over the charmed monster.

"Come here, you nasty bugger. Let us get a good look at you."
