Tammytharn chants. The party feels a calming sense that they will win this fight and that everything will end up ok. In the back of Tammytharn's mind, she gets an image of the Unknown Mercurial Potion she bought.
Much to Rachelle's delight she looks around the edge of the wall as she's drinking her potion to see that the sounds she heard didn't result in the manticore dropping, but it seems they very nearly did. Rachelle gets an uneasy feeling as she grows. From behind the shambles of a brick wall, the party sees Rachelle's new massive size. She readies her weapon.
Voulton mindlessly attacks the werewolf. His axe cuts perfectly through the werewolf's stomach. His entrails spill out as Vouton attacks again but the pain from the last attack cause the werewolf to wince, putting him just out of range of Voulton's second attack.
The werewolf stumbles back.
The dragonfly on Lynda's shoulder flys out and strikes the werewolf again as the werewolf topples over in pain. Kalar's spell hits the werewolf as it's already falling.
The werewolf struggles to get back on it's feet as Rachelle charges in for the final blow.
The werewolf lays dead in front of the party. A dark magic is seen escaping it's body. The magic grows and rises into the sky. A faint howl is heard and then it's all over.

Kalar drops to his knees, that was a close fight. He moves to his zombicore and releases some negative energy into it, to heal it up.

He then turns to everyone. "Excellent work everyone. I apologize for the spell earlier, it seems that some forces are at work which are affecting my spellcasting in ways I do not yet understand. That spell should not have gone that way, it was only supposed to affect the werewolves."

He reaches into his pack and retrieves all the healing potions he has.

"Either way though, if you're injured I have potions that can heal you up. They're not much, but they should be able to patch you up some."

Sound Lance → Inflict Critical Wounds (4d8 + 7)

Potions (No idea what these are exactly, just know they're health potions/oils)
-Health potion ×2
-Health oil ×4

Lynda laughs joyously.

"We did it! We really did it!" She says, excited. "Hopefully we can make it back to the present and retrieve our reward from Sephora."

Lynda walks over and picks up her snake staff.

"It's pretty dark out...should we make camp and rest before we embark to the gate?"

First on Voulton's list of priorities is to make sawdust out of the body: After the namestealer/wereho incident, he doesn't believe you can be too careful. Plus he's still VERY ANGRY (The priest was wrong! Dad was right! A savage nature may've saved our lives and humane-ness nearly cost it!) and intends to take it out on that rather than... well, that's a later priority. He claims the werewolf's broken sword as a trophy and removes the beasts leather armor before the saw dustening.

Priority #2: Rachelle must've gotten a haircut or something 'cause Voulton is starting to notice what a powerful woman she is. He's smart enough not to say anything about it, but will be sneakin peeks and smiling.

As promised, Tammytharn gets a pat on the back for being a good healer. "You saved our lives. That's good work."

And while we're not forgetting things.... he picks up Kalar. "We been gettin along so far. I don't know what happened back there, but it can't happen again..." his face goes blank as he's back in Castle Clover. The guinea pigs. The sacrifices. The "accidents". The... savagery. Back in the moment, he sheepishly puts Kalar on the ground. "It can't happen again."

To Lynda's question he responds: "Sleep or don't, it doesn't matter. Would we be safe here? Would we be safe out there? What were we supposed to do when the werewolf was dead?" and starts poking through the houses trying to find one that'd keep any rain off of 'em and looking for some idea of what kinda town this is anyway.

Kalar is ticked off, but understands the half-giant's anger.

"You have my word, I won't be casting any spells like that again any time soon. At least not until I figure out what's wrong with my magic. You also have my word that that effect was not my intention, and I was just as surprised by it as the rest of you were. But I agree, it can't happen again, and you have my word that it will not."

"As for Lynda's question, I believe we should get out of here and back to our time as quickly as possible. Then again, it might also be a good idea to look through these houses a bit. We're 200 years in the past, we might learn something to our advantage in the future. Either way, before we set out again, let's at least get ourselves patched up and ready to go. I doubt sleeping here would be a good idea though."

Kalar moves to the corpse of Bob the Pony and removes the saddle. He materializes his dagger in his hand and begins to modify it to fit Bill the Zombicore. When he's done, he casts Mending on it to fix what mistakes he may have made.

When that's done, he will strap the saddle onto Bill and fashion a seatbelt of sorts using the rope in his pack. Then, he will take his last seven onyxes and animate seven skeletons.

"Let's rest the night in one of these houses, and get back to the time gate first thing in the morning." says Tammytharn.

She prepares her healer's kit, and converts 4 spells to "Cure Light Wounds" and 2 spells to "Cure Moderate Wounds" and uses them on whoever needs them.

She remembers the strange flashing vision of the mysterious potion that she had seen while praying in battle. What was Rao trying to communicate to her?

Once the healing is done, and they are ready to set up camp, she will light some incense, cast "Divination", and ask Rao whether she should drink the Unknown Mercurial Potion right now.

"I concur. I do suggest though, that any who were bitten sleep in a different house, just in case."

Kalar considers Voulton's words.

"Further, if my presence in the house will cause problems, I will sleep in a separate house if that is the wish of the group. Either way though, some fire might be good."

Kalar orders his seven new skeletons to gather whatever broken pieces of wood might be in the area. He does not, however, allow them to go into the trees. While they do that, Kalar searches the bodies of all the fallen. Who knows? Some might have some items or the other on them that might prove informative. He also uses his medical skills to gauge how healthy each might have been prior to dying. Knowing their general level of health can be rather informative. It would allow him to learn if these people were scavengers or if they were well-fed, either of which would be interesting to know.

Along with the leather armor, Voulton finds a pair of bracers on the werewolf that look well made. Then begins to search the houses along with some of the other party members.

Most of the houses are pretty open to the elements. Behind one of the houses, the party finds a strange demonish statue. At the base they find:
  • a carved ivory scroll case with jet caps
(inside are a scroll of Summon Swarm and a scroll of Knock)
    an ancient jade calender
    a gem stone hairpin
    a gold bracelet
    a small gold vase
    a bronze toy soldier
a flask with clear is tan liquid inside

Inside the only intact house, the party finds 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. They also find a locked chest. The children seemed frighten and huddle together in a corner of one of the rooms. They don't speak.

Kalar ignores the loot and instead goes to the children. He orders all of his undead minions to get out of sight, and then slowly approaches the children.

Keeping his voice as soft and soothing as he can, he says: "Hey there, kids. You can come out now. The bad people are gone. Look, I'm not much bigger than you guys. I promise we won't hurt you. Are any of you hungry? I think some of us have some food if you want. Can you tell me your names?"

The children don't respond. A closer inspection reveals to Kalar that one of the girls is holding a newborn baby.

"Tammytharn! Get in here!"

Kalar approaches the children, but out of reach so that they know he's not a threat.

"Are you afraid? You don't have to be afraid of me, I won't hurt you, I promise. Look! I can do tricks!"

Kalar picks up a pebble, sending divine energy into it, causing the pebble to glow brightly.

"See? Now you won't have to be afraid of the dark any more. Here, you can have it."

Kalar holds his hand out with the glowing pebble in his palm.

The entire scene seems familiar to him. Children huddling together, a ruined village, pain and death everywhere. He looks at the children, almost seeing himself in them. It's not exactly empathy, but he does feel genuine concern of sorts for them, having gone through something similar himself as a child.

Lynda takes the gem stone hairpin and gold bracelet for herself. Lynda also takes the scroll case, but will hand it over to anyone who asks for it.

"Children...? There was children here during this whole ordeal...? My god..." Lynda thinks upon seeing the five children. Lynda doesn't approach them, but she does speak to them.

"Hello...?" Lynda says to them. She tries to sound sweet and friendly, but she hasn't really seen children in a long time. "It's safe now, me and my friends drove all the monsters away."

"My name is Lynda. What's your guys names?"

"I see..."

He decides not to make any sudden movements, as it might provoke the children. And with none of his minions about, this could get dangerous. However...

"Now, let's all be good boys and girls. Let me tell you a story..."

Kalar channels divine energy into his voice, Enthralling the children, keeping them docile.
