Kalar has been silent up to now, but decides to speak up. "You seem far more rational than those people you lead. And as to your query, yes, I suppose I may be morally questionable. But as my colleague said, I have been aiding this party, and I can truthfully say I have never harmed an innocent nor is it in my desire to do so or to let them come to harm. Such is for lesser people" Kalar resists glancing at Rachelle when he says that.
"As my large colleague here says, I want to go home. And I do want to be rid of this curse. You say you are able to do so, and I would gladly take you up on your offer and pay recompense, but I was told that only a feat of amazing power would undo this. In addition, it is not only the curse of lycanthrophy, but I was also magically changed into a dog. It was either remain a dog, or become a werewolf. And if I remained a dog, I would not have been able to fulfill my oath and keep my word to this party. If you can read us, then you will know how seriously I take my word and how much my own honor means to me."

Moriamis gives Tammyrtharn a reassuring look. "Don't be so hard on yourself". Then she turns to Kalar. "A dog?" says Moriamis. She thinks about this for a while. "Well, there is a way to be rid of the werewolf and dog curses that afflict, I'm sure of that. If you'd truly like to be rid of this form, I'm sure I can help you. You will have to trust me for this to work. In return I will trust all of you."

"A sign of trust, then? I would be willing, but you have to consider our position. We've just come from a castle where everything has been trying to kill us. None that we talked to wished to share information. Over here on the other side, we were attacked by werewolves, discovered by that magic is 'evil', and to top it off, there was that attempted robbery.
"Now, I see that you managed to remove that amulet from my comrade Lynda, so I have no doubt you're possibly powerful enough to kill us all should you desire. That could perhaps be taken as a sign that you wish to aid us, or it could be taken that you wished to be able to 'read' her to your advantage. You also say that you will aid me in removing this curse, both the werewolf one and the dog one. I want to trust you, but you will understand my suspicion.
"How about this then, you claimed to have 'read' us. Therefore, I am assuming you have learned at least some of what we know. Give us an item of information that we do not, something that is to the aid of us both, and then I shall be willing to give my full trust. Otherwise, I find myself having to remain in suspicion of one who would teach these people magic and then set them loose to prey on innocent travelers."

"Well." Lynda says. "Despite the chaos that was going on with my arm, I must say you did solve my problem. So, I thank you, Lady Moriamis. I'm just glad to see the amulet can be removed now so I may heal, and still retains its properties when worn. It's been saving my life ever since I got it."
"I do wonder, though, why my arm went out of control. Before this amulet came in to play, I could use Dissipating Touch at will. What caused it to grow so chaotic? Will I vanish if I take the amulet off for too long? Either way, that's not our focus right now."

Moriamis says, "I am one of only a few people that understand the secret of brewing time. A secret that is needed to undo this curse." Then she takes out a small, devious looking vial with a silvery potion in it. "Drink this. It will ready you for my spell. Then I will begin."

"Hmph, so no intention of answering my question without this sign of trust then? Very well. Someone," he glares at Rachelle, "Has to do something for this party."
Kalar takes the potion and drinks it down.

Kalar dies.
At first the party just assumes he's falling asleep. But then his lack of breath and chilling, soulless glare show them all that he has died. What a terrible poison that must have been.
"Don't panic," Moriamis holds up her hand in an attempt to halt the party's worry. "He'll be back up before you know it."
Then she starts casting a spell.

Kalar witnesses:Kalar awakens at the foot of his deity. Dispater says nothing. He simple holds out his hand and jabs Kalar in the chest. A mercurial fluid flows up and covers a bit of Kalar's chest. Then Kalar starts to become overwhelmed by a bright light. His soul feels like it's being lifted. He hears Dispater laugh as he floats back to life.
"It is done," says Moriamis. She looks tired after casting and sits down in the branches of a nearby tree.
Everyone gasps as the witness Kalar's body twist and pop. Then it comes to a rest.
Kalar stands. His clothes no longer fit. He is much shorter than he used to be.
Kalar is now a halfling.

Lynda looks at Kalar in confusion and relief. He's alive, but he's...mini.
"Well." Lynda says. "I'm relieved you held your word, Moriamis. We stood back as our party member died, and held our faith long enough to see him come back. Will you be willing to co-operate with us now?"
She then turns to Kalar.
"I see that your equipment doesn't fit you anymore..." Lynda says. "I still have a clerics robe. Perhaps you could make us of it, granted that we trim it down to size."
