At the sound of that name, the man leaps to his feet! "That awful place?! Monsters ate our horses! Goblins killed our cook for trying to eat a chipmunk! Some crazy lady on a horse (And why'd she get to keep hers when no one else does?!) yelled at me for trying to build some shelter! Not to even mention the poison food everywhere! I'd probably be half-dead if it weren't for this!" he shouts, holding another fistful of jerky. No sense in putting it back, down the hatch it goes.

"And you? Who ordered you to come to this awful place? Did they promise you gold or just threaten to knock your head off if you didn't?! And what're you going to do now? Play house? Run around like goblins and steal some baubles?"

"No one ordered us into Castle Clover, we were somehow teleported there while our caravan camped in a cave in the desert outside Dunderstank. And I agree it was an awful place. Many of our friends were killed there." Tammytharn explains.

"We would like to find out how to break the Castle's curse so we can go home."

She chooses to omit that they have been stealing a lot of baubles, just because that is incidental to their quest, not their main goal.

The man gathers his belongings and joins the party at the other side of the room. "My name is Voulton and I want to go home too. Glad to join you." Invitations, it would seem, are a foreign concept.

With the addition of Voulton, the group started to make it's way towards the city. Kalar could smell dozens of different creatures out in the forest. Most of them were small or gentle creatures. He did smell a few more boars, but the scent that troubled him the most was the one along the road. A scent of wolves ran along the road. The scent was faint, as if the wolves had travel on the road hours and hours ago.

Lynda enjoyed being back outside. She looked around at all the birds fluttering about and listened to all the sounds of nature. Up ahead, she was first to see a turned over cart. The group approached the cart to find a bloody scene. Blood covered the ground around the cart. The horse pulling the cart seemed to be completely hollowed out and only the clothes of the person who this cart belonged to could be found. The cart was carrying apples and firewood that seemed untouched, though spilled. Large wolf tracks could be seen around the area, confirming Kalar's earlier detection of wolves. Lynda, Voulton, Kalar, Tammytharn, Hrulgin, and Rachelle all looked at the scene wondering what they should do about this potential wolf threat.

Tammytharn cringes at the sight of the hollowed-out horse.

"Is that something that wolves do?" she wonders out loud. She speaks in the general direction where Kalar is standing, unconciously impliying that she thinks that he should know more about wolves in his current status.

She casts Detect magic to scan the area for anything that would hint at more than just a mundane wolf pack attack

Tammytharn is able to detect a faint magical trail leading away from the scene. There is also one leading to the trail, but it's muddled up with the party's own magic item trails. The trail seems to follow the road and resemble the trail being left by the party.

Tammytharn describes the magical aura to the others, and gives her assessment.

"I don't think it is useful information. I can't tell if it even has anything to do with this scene of butchery, it just means someone else carring a magical item walked this road not long ago, maybe before this happened, maybe after."

She thinks for a moment and continues;

"I think we should just move along. We can't do anything about this, it is just a reminder that these woods are dangerous, and we should stick together."

Voulton nods his agreement. "Mom always told me wolves and bears and whatnot aren't any trouble. They're just as scared of you as you are of them. We don't have nothin they want, but I'll keep an eye open if it makes you feel better." he says reaching into his pack for another handful of beefy salty goodness and absent-mindedly kicks an apple with him as he goes. Those wolves made the right call. Trees are for cuttin. Not for eatin' off of. Real men need meat, condensed to its meatiest possible self.

"I have no idea if this is something they would do, but it would seem to me that it is not."

Kalar sniffs around.

"If you want to find those who did this, I believe I will be able to track them down."

The party continues past the scene towards the city.

In the distance up the road, you see a few figures exit the road to hide in the forest.

"Up ahead, there were some people, I believe they saw us and ducked into the forest. I am unsure if they are the ones who did this though."

Tammytharn asks the others to point out the pace where the others are hidden, and after she has a clear view of it, she casts Clairaudience on it, hoping to hear the whispers of the others and determine if they are ambushing or merely hiding

"There," Kalar points, "Up ahead."

Kalar considers this for a moment and says, "I do believe I have made a mistake traveling the road this way. Henceforth, Hrulgin and I shall stay within the woods, shadowing you. I will alert you should I detect anything hostile."

Kalar makes his way into the forest with Hrulgin, making sure to keep the party in sight but also making sure he is out of view of the road.

Clairaudience
Strong female voice, "They stopped, did they see us?"
Strong male voice, "How should I know? Just keep quiet when they get nearby."
Strong female voice, "Are we going to eat them too?"
Strong male voice, "Hmm, there seem to be a lot of them. They might be too much for the three of us."
Strong female voice, "Maybe I could seduce them? hehehe"
Strong male voice, "Maybe I could! hahaha"
Strong female voice, "Maybe you could seduce me?"
Strong male voice, "Not now, babe. Now keep quiet, let's see what they do."

In the woods, Kalar sniffs around, trying to identify exactly where those he saw are, and just what they might be.
