Castle Amber: A D&D Adventure

Lynda laughs heartily.

"Yes, yes! Out of that blasted Castle!" She says. She does a little spin, and laughs a little more. She then regains her composure. "Of course...we're still not done with this."

"I agree, let's head for that inn. It should be a good start." She says.

Kalar sniffs around, he can detect several woodland creatures in the area. They include squirrels, birds and a boar. As he's sniffing around, he notices the skeleton has walked directly into the woods. The rest of the party then notices this too.

"Hold up! We've no idea who you are or what your agenda is! And I think you agreed to answer questions!" Galse makes possibly a mistake by unbinding Kalar and siccing him on the boneman!

Kalar dashes after the skeleton, bringing up his holy symbol in an attempt to subdue it.

"Hrulgin! With me, restrain the skeleton!"

Galse is torn between an urge to follow and fear of getting lost in these strange woods and being unable to find the road. He'll give pursuit as best as he can, but makes sure to remember where the road is and not get out of eyesight of it. This skeleton is scary, but arguably isn't their problem.

The skeleton stops after a short chase. Kalar smells the boar very close by, it might be just behind a bush near him. Galse, knowing nothing of the boar, looks at both the skeleton and Kalar.
"Ask your questions and than leave me be," states the skeleton.

"Very well, but not here. There is a boar nearby, and I would rather not have to fight it. We will return to the party, set up a perimeter as best as we're able, and then our cleric will ensure that we shall <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/zoneOfTruth.htm">all be telling the truth</a>. When you have answered our questions to our satisfaction, we shall go from there."

The skeleton raises his sword, it seems to shimmer. Then the skeleton quickly darts towards a bush and a loud squeal is heard and a boar comes thrashing out of the bush. The skeleton stabs it again and it dies.
"Ask your questions now."

"How about who are you, for starters? What's your business here? You seem plenty clever, why did you need us to get out of the castle?"

Kalar in turn asks his own questions.

"First, what assurance do we have that you are in fact telling the truth?"

"What is the connection between this place and the castle?"

"Why was there that division between Amber and Clover?"

"Who was Stephen Clover or Amber? And what happened with that person claiming to be queen?"

"What happened to the being inhabiting the sword you hold?"

"What do you know of the items that we are supposed to gather?"

Kalar holds off asking any more questions until he gets answers to these. The answers he receives might generate more questions.

The skeleton stand up straight, it's eyes glow white. It looks more dangerous then before.
"I am a follower of Vecna. I would like to escape this place. Overcoming the many dangers in the castle, including your group, were beyond me at the time." The skeleton then turns to Kalar and says, "You have no assurance. This place and the castle exist in the same extra-planar location. I suspect that the castle is not far from here, but protected by some power magic. I believe you are speaking of an illusion that was cast. I don't know the purpose of the "clover to amber" illusion you speak of nor do I know of the people you are talking about. The sword is under control at the moment nothing more. As for the items we are to gather, I suspect you also found the scroll titled To Those Who Would Be Free. That is all I know."
With that, the skeleton turns away, "If that is all, I'll be leaving, I don't wish to travel with your group any longer."

"If you say you found a scroll as well, then are you attempting to break the curse and find the items?"

"If that is the case, then I foresee us coming into conflict over those items. Will this be a problem that we need to deal with right now?"

"And if you are a follower of Vecna, then what do you know of our previous companion? The man named Silas?"

Galse raises his hands in a concillatory gesture. "Slow down, nobody wants trouble. We all wanna be free. If you're done answering our questions, and you have no questions for us, let's both be on our seperate ways. Last one to freeedom' a rotten egg, huh?"
