"I am a simple skeleton from what you call the ghoul lands. You brought me here yourself. Since than I have gained knowledge and abilities. I now wish to leave this castle."

"I am curious though, as to how you were able to attain that knowledge and those abilities, if you are indeed a simple skeleton. I have never heard of skeletons just suddenly gaining that ability, magic sword possession notwithstanding."
Kalar considers this further... If something gave the skeleton that knowledge, or perhaps fused with the sword somehow, then this is potentially something very interesting. And potentially very dangerous.
"That said, that does convince me that you would be an interesting source of information. Still, I am of the belief that we need to continue through this castle, for at least two or three more days, to see what we may find. You may very well be able to grant us information once on the other side, but as we are now, we will be ill-prepared to deal with any dangers that may be there. If we were to go now, we would certainly meet our demise, and I doubt that is something you desire."

"The danger in either way seems unknown. It's my understanding that this would be the exit to this castle that is full of danger. Would that not than be the safest way to go?"

"It is unknown to me, and it's always best to treat the unknown as more dangerous. Here at least, we have some idea what areas are safe and what areas are dangerous. We fully intend to leave through the gate, but not yet at this time. We still need time to prepare ourselves before heading through. It's certain death to leave familiar danger for unknown danger."

"I will wait here then."

Satisfied, Kalar gestures for the others to follow as he steps outside into the hallway to meet with Galse.
Quietly, he says to the cook, "I don't trust that skeleton. It's definitely hiding something, and I'm not sure I buy the story it's selling. I suggest we relocate to another room, get some rest, and then try to find the throne room to get to the bottom of this mystery."

Galse nods, adding in a whisper "It's bad luck to sleep with a skeleton anyway."

"Indeed."
With that, Kalar leads the party away from the room with the skeleton, heading for the ladder up to the black room. There, he intends to set up some sort of defensible position and allow everyone to get some rest.

The skeleton opens the door and walks into the hallway. "On second thought, I will follow the keys," says the skeletons.

Galse, who assumably still has the keys, gives two of them to Tammytharn, one of them and the food to Kalar, and keeps the fourth. "Nobody's trying to sneak through the gate without you partner, but I don't think anyone's comfortable resting after..." he can't quite find the words to describe the Gontort situation.. "..whatever just happened down here.".
These next words are going to require tact, and it takes Galse a moment to conjure it up. "I don't know if you've been a skeleton long enough to know, but.. and I'm gonna be perfectly frank 'cause you're a tough guy like me and I know you can take it.. your appearance is unsettling to the living. Nobody likes to think about their bones going into business for themselves, right? It'll probably be best if you and I stay up and keep watch while the others catch some rest. We've got a key, so they won't be leaving without us."
Looking to the rest of the party he adds "Besides, this way we can keep an eye on sleepy and the statue. No safe way to get 'em up there and who knows what'll happen if we leave 'em to their own devices."

And so it was, the Skeleton and Galse stayed behind as the rest of the party camped in the black room. The large red man came in and checked with the party before they settled in for the night. He assured them he would do his best to keep them safe. Tammytharn healed those who needed to be healed magically and Lynda was seen to in more traditional way. The night passed uneventfully.
The party gains 4,500 xp
Kalar gains 3,100 xp

Refreshed, and ready to move on, Kalar turns to the others and says,
"Right. The way I see it, we have two choices now. We can either do what the skeleton says, and head on through the gate. Alternatively, we can continue searching for clues and perhaps find a way to help our dear Rachelle.
"As for myself, I would much prefer to venture onwards. I particularly want to find the throne room or the great hall. If this is the castle of King Stephen, the one whose curse we're meant to be lifting, then I believe the throne room would provide us with valuable information.
"What say the rest of you?"

Tammytharn and Lynda seemed pretty jaded at this point. They had followed Kalar to this room to rest but the loss of Gontort and potential loss of Rachelle still weighed heavily on them.

Galse nods, not seeing any problems with this plan. "How do we get to the throne room, then? I hope it's not back in the middle of that forest somewhere." he adds, jut thinkin out loud.

"Well." Lynda says. "Let's start exploring."
"Shall we head back to the other wing, through the red room?"
