King Arthurs Gold Thread

I decided to take the advice given to me by the Minecraft thread and make this. Huh, I wonder how long this thread shall last...

Anyways, I should probably explain the game to you, seeing as many of you probably haven't played it. KAG is a game where you go online, a play different game modes with other people, or you can go single player.

Online, you can do Deathmatches in teams and kill the opposing team to win, or you can play Capture The Flag, where you can either build up your fortress, or fight for the flag. If you are a Premium Member, you can play Zombie Fortress Online, where you team up to fight and survive against zombies.

Offline, you can play Sandbox mode and build freely, Deathmatch where you fight CPU's, or if you're Premium, Zombie Fortress, where you try to survive against zombies as long as you can. Here's a nice castle I made in Sandbox mode:

It's a pretty fun game. I'm not Premium, but I kind of wish I was. The game is in Beta, discounted by 50% from its 25$ full price. You can host your own server I think, so if a lot of people play this, we can make a Slimesalad server that can be passworded, I do believe. I'm not fully sure what making a server entitles.

Here's the website.

So...Discuss!

What I'm curious about is just how much is buildable in-game? That picture for example, which parts are static, and which can be constructed by players?

Sounds spiffy though.

Edit: Oh, and what do you control? A single entity like in Minecraft? Or an omniscient and omnipotent tyrannical megalomaniac (perhaps the tyrannical megalomaniac part might just be me though) like in Dwarf Fortress?

@BMR: What can players use?

The tile options are limited, sadly. However, you can lay (trap) bridges, team doors, castle walls (stone bricks), gold bricks, back walls, workshops, spikes, and ladders. The ground is diggable and trees can be cut down (they grow back).

I haven't played yet, but the visual style of King Arthur's Gold reminds me pleasantly of that old SNES game, "King Arthur's World". I would not be surprised if it is a source of inspiration.

I can't help but notice that looks an awful lot like Terreria. Are there any major differences? And don't say "it's not on Steam," that's a cheap answer and you know it :hurr:

Jumping onto BMR's question, which you didn't answer: What does the player control, exactly? Like, in your screenshot, is the player the little bald man on the ground floor, or one of the two (:???:) cursors floating around the structure? Judging by the appearance of the game and the fact that you mentioned a "zombie fortress" mode, I'm guessing you control a cursor, and the zombie survival sounds like it would instantly turn this game into a "Tower Defense" kind of game.

You control the little bald man. The cursor is what you guide around screen to lay blocks and such.

So you only control one man, and not a little army of men?

Just one man. Online, you are apart of the little army of men fighting, heh.

I know. It's been blatantly pointed out that it works similar to Terraria, but it has fast paced fighting along with it.

So, any of you guys considering trying it? Oh, by the way, if you want to know what the people look like, the three classes are all in my avatar (Knight, Ranger, Builder).

I'm considering giving it a whirl, but the time difference problem prolly means I won't be able to join in any Slime Salad games unfortunately.

Still, looks like fun, I'll have a looksee.
