I guessed that it would be more than a week, since 1.3's been delayed with more content again and again. I didn't pull that from any official source though. Also there's a very large library at Oxford that would love to have some Written Books in its archives.
I'm not about to build a new one unless it's much smaller by comparison.

That is a beautiful library!
@Master K: the best way to enchant in the current version while you are waiting for version 1.3 to come out is to enchant any item you can as often as you can. the first 1 or 2 levels of experience are good enough to give you many items with basic enchantments, and even if you tediously build up to experience level 50, you chances of getting something amazingly good still aren't that great.
I can't wait for 1.3 :)

My preferred way to harvest sugarcane is to just punch off the tops of all the stocks, and leave the bottom block of each growing. Nice and fast, and has the exact same effect as replanting.
Wheat is the only crop that requires much effort to replant. (but I still think it is well worth it)

I find wheat annoying to take care of, and that's usually how I harvest sugarcane, but sometimes lag spikes will make me accidentally punch the bottom cane block.
I'll have to experiment with wheat farming in ways that I can find will work for me to best farm it. Much like my melon farm, if any of you have seen it. It's pretty much imo the optimum way to make the farm. Very minimal accidental vine breakage, and somewhat spider resistant. Only somewhat.
If you somehow get a spider INTO the farm, and you've harvest the current melons, and make it angry at you AND you stay near the vines, then it can crawl into the crevices where the vines are located and stomp them. I've only had that happen once on the Starmen.net server.

The Iceway now connects James's base with my igloo in The Gray. It's long enough to merit its own rail line, I think, so I may get to expanding on it some day soon.
Near my igloo is a patch of pumpkins - follow that towards some ice lakes and you'll find the Corn Cobb Co. mine shaft, which bores straight down to obsidian level and has notches in the earth every 5 meters for anyone who wants to help with the dig. It has a ridiculously roundabout tunnel leading off of it that leads to a massive ravine with light leaking through the ice and sand above. A protective barrier, Jack-O-Lantern sentry, and sign post have been placed around the area above ground to warn travelers not to dig haphazardly in the area. They might end up falling into the very deep ravine below.
