For some reason, I just don't feel like there is anything to do on the slime salad server :/
I've played on it, like, twice. I've still yet to build any sort of home for myself.

You should find a patch and build a base - see if you still feel like that! We should maybe build a 'sightseeing rail', which goes past all of the main attractions, for people who JUST want to sightsee.

You have to be both creative and patient in order to have fun in minecraft. For example, I started a rainbow sheep ranch for the sole purpose of acquiring wool blocks for pixel art. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you might end up on the server at the same time as four or five other people and get to go on an adventure, like the time a bunch of us went on the Sacred Mooshroom cattle-run over the stretch of one or two kilometers.
EDIT: Actually, I have a direct challenge for Meowskivich that I absolutely do not expect him to fulfill. Somewhere on the server (check one of James's 3D maps in the thread) is the "Starlight Stronghold," a terrible multi-leveled gauntlet tower that none of us have managed to escape from unscathed. There is a big variety of treasure hidden there that would normally be unobtainable, like Grass, Ice, and Sponge blocks.

Oh ho?
Sounds dandy, but I have 1/2 heart left and absolutely no food (or stamina for that matter). If I can get some food stuff I'll have to check out this place.
edit: I have no clue where this is by the way. any near-by special locations?
further edit: EVERY TIME I LOG IN! I SWEAR! (referencing a post I made a while ago, it being night every time I log in.)

This is the map. You have to zoom in a bit to actually see anything.
Starlight is down and to the right from the origin point. If you were to travel in a straight line there, you'd run parallel to the Creeperton (that's the village with the big red mushrooms in it) railway, across a small bay, through some hilly plains, then straight across the ocean. You'll run into a small island with some lava on it. Keep going. Eventually you'll hit another island which is connected to some broken and destroyed highways. The one made of brick and wood will take you to the Starlight Stronghold.
The other highway doesn't connect to anything, but if you keep going in a straight line from its end you'll eventually find the rail to Giz's super-ranch.

I can't survive in this world....
seriously, food is about as scarce as can be, and when I get sucker-punched by a spider IN THE DAY-TIME!!!!.......sigh....also, someone screwed with my bed, making it to where I spawned at the normal spawn instead of my bed...which I have no idea where it's at. Nor do I have any idea where this new place I found is at. I CAN'T WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No amount of exclamation points can express my current rage. I'ma take this temple place on, and I WILL WIN.
you know, as long as I don't starve to near-death and then get poked....AGAIN
P.S. I still have no idea where it is

I doubt anyone would have deliberately tampered with your bed. In all likelihood, you probably destroyed and re-placed your bed (doesn't matter if it's in the same spot or not), but didn't get a chance to sleep in it before you died, which boots you to the server spawn. (this happens to me all the time)
You need to get acquainted with the most basic landmarks. First is the TEMPLE OF CARTOGRAPHY, which is deliberately close to the server spawn, a cobblestone temple with signs and redstone that mark the railways and landmarks of this world.
Second is the SOD HOUSE, which should be in viewing distance from the temple. It has two railways, you want the one closer to the ground. Follow it, ignore the large creeper face and the cobblestone castle, and when the rail ends you'll be in CREEPERTON.

Uh, no, I left my bed right where it is when I used it.
And that doesn't really help me, I know where creeperton is. I've been to it a bunch of times.
I wish I could kill something in the game, but I keep dieing before I even get anything. I find some iron! woo! then I die........
I get some melon seeds! woo! ......then I get raped........
Seriously, I want to punch something for real.............

My favorite way to get food is farming wheat for bread
Each time you harvest wheat you get more than enough seeds to replant the whole field, and with a big enough field, you will quickly have more than enough wheat for all the bread you can eat. The only hard part about wheat farming is getting it started, so you can just use an existing wheat farm (All villages have wheat farms, and people won't mind if you harvest their wheat fields as long as you replant the seeds)

Didn't Wozzeck / SwampTroll place a Free Bread Box in Creeperton? It's specifically made for people like you who are having a tough time getting started. I'm pretty sure Geese wouldn't mind you taking some melons from his farm, as long as the stems are intact. (try not to touch anything else, though, he's had a hard time with thieves raiding his stuff before)

I did find a box with a few melon slices, I stole a few and planted them on the outskirts of creeperton.

I'm talking about a farm with rows of melon blocks. Break those and collect all the slices, and you should have plenty of food for a while.
