Thanks. You actually gave me a great idea when you mentioned like. The idea is that I should make a pinterest account and pin all my blog posts to pinterest so they spread around. Then people in a way can "like" my stuff. So thanks for that too!

I love the pallets you use, sheamkennedy. I don't know what it reminds me of, but I just really like your style.

Thanks. I guess I tend to use a lot of what I'd call "pastel colours." Kind of like all the colours you'd associate with Easter. That's what I think of when I see them. I think of it as trying to create contrast between these soft-fun colours we'd associate with happiness, and the dystopic content of my game. This isn't an original idea. I actually picked up on this type of contrasting when I played Earthbound. In Earthbound all the graphics are cute and charming, but underneath it all lies a pretty mature storyline... It's very misleading and I like that.

These are the things I love about game design. Who cares if it's original I think it's cool as hell.

Yes. I don't care if it's original either. This is like a subtle tribute to one of my favourite games.

Been struggling with getting decent maptiles drawn, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Pardon the mess, the tree leaf tiles are something I started this morning while work was slow and I'm still testing/tweaking.

Screencap of in-use maptiles that I've got so far.

Contrasted with the placeholder maptiles I made starting out, for giggles:

Looks very nice.

The only thing that seems a tad weird to me is that the grass tile and tree leaves seem to look very similar to one another. It was a tad hard for me to distinguish the two at first. :gonk:

That's something I took into consideration, I did try to change the brightness between the two so they stand apart more. Could you tell me how they appear similar to you? Is it the colors, the brightness, or something else?

What if you made the leaves on the tree bigger? They look about the same size as the blades of grass

Hmm. I can give that a try. Also might try to make the blades of grass smaller. Or try reversing the dark/light palette between the two so the tree leaves are darker than the grass.

whelp if we're giving graphic advice;

~The leaves seem fine but the grass is terrible. IT looks like the tall grass in pokemon.

~Why is the roof made out of bricks? and why don't the bricks bend with the roof? You need a slanted brick tile for the bricks that are on the slanted part of the roof.

~That stone path needs grass to stone edging. This sort of treatment can work, but your attention to detail on other things like the trees makes this shortcut stand out a lot and makes it look bad.
