@Phoenix: Those are great! Something like that would be perfect for the Pixel Art Book.

Unwisely I started working on something new instead of finishing FQ2. ...
And this time I might have put the bar to high regarding the things I want to include in the game regarding the graphics and battles. I doupt I'll finish anytime soon without help.
Still, it's fun playing around with the Engine as well as drawing characters.

The walkabout, Enemies and Hero Battle Pictures are not really as good as I'd like them to be... On the other hand, I'm lazy and using the same base for all of them... It is the try to balance "good-looking" and "to-much-work".

Here are some pictures:

The overlay person in the textbox thing is rather nicely done.

@marionline: I'm really liking all of your graphics for this one, especially the player sprites, and simple graphics. I think the text boxes stand out though, you may want to consider picking a box colour which fits in with the rest of your colour choices. Perhaps do customized box border too! Looks really good though, I'm excited to know what it's all about.

So many harpies and winged things...

That textbox large portrait is really nice.

In several of those frames the heroes' arms appear quite thin (or have 'bottlenecks' in places), thinner than in the other frames. I think that's the biggest problem with those sprites. After that I would change the shape and positions of the legs. If a character has one leg forward then it's better to have the other slightly back. The last hero's legs look best. Also the way the boots/socks stick out 2 pixels from the ankles looks a bit strange.

Also I can't really see how the first two frames of each hero battle spriteset would create a walking animation. It's more effective to alternate the legs (one foot in front of the other). But walking animations are so unimportant in battles (you can hardly see them) that I would suggest spending time on something else.

I'm afraid I don't have any ideas for improving the walkabout sprites while sticking to that style (otherwise I would suggest shading to convey more detail)

Hey TMC,

Thanks for all these hints. :D

I might redo the walkabouts one day. At the moment they use the same colorpalettes as the heros. If I used diffrent colorpalettes, I could try with more shading.
Walking Legs... sounds good. I'll try to take more care for the next sprites I draw and redo thoses above (after everything else is done).

The thing that sticks out at the boots/ancles is the trouses, like the brither cloth in the inside of a jeans if it's to large and fold it up. I thought it would make a better design, to put color there, but well, I guess I should remove it, if I have to explain what this is.

Thanks again!

You don't have to remove the trouser-ends. I think they otherwise look good, but suggest shifting them forward a pixel, so that they don't stick out so far behind the heel. Normally the heel of the shoe sticks out back from the leg but you've got the opposite effect here.
