Thanks! That's what I was going for. I just kind of built the whole game around the contrast between the sickly, gritty green of the Game Boy and the bright, colourful look of the Spectrum.

Oh boy, I made loads of screenshots from my techdemo thingy...
Since I'm always very nitpicky when it comes to graphics, I actually put effort into them..

Looking good!
So, this is a completely separate game to your previous one, although sharing characters and tile graphics?

Yeah it is.
I actually re-made every asset, and made the Earthbound-like battles from scratch as you probably know.
It's defenitely not a remake of The Pumpkin Warriors, but rather it's own game. I'm using some ideas from The Pumpkin Warriors, which I won't finish, because it has major organization problems which are just tedious and frustrating to work with.
I still have no idea where I'm going with it but at the moment it's just an idea dump for ridiculous enemies.

Stupendous, my friend! Especially the battle backgrounds!

@Froginator:

I have to ask, since it's so reminiscent of Earthbound, are the backgrounds in the battle sequences animated? It may be time consuming and take up space, but it's certainly doable with the pattern you have there.

@Gizmo and Sparkou
Thanks a lot! I'm always paying way too much attention to the graphics, but I think that can also be a good thing ;)

@kylekrack
I'd love to!
I will try and put that in the next version I'll upload.

Tried some animation:

Not quite as happy with it as I could be, but oh well, spent enough time on this little doodle, heh.

34 frames and 24 colors.
