It's quite bizarre but I can't say that's a bad thing. It certainly looks cool. If you work more on them, definitely post them here. I'd love to see it.

Also, this isn't game related, but I made this and I don't have a lot of friends, so I'm sharing it here.

Wow, that sounds a lot more depressing than it is.

Will do.

Also I like what you just posted. I'm assuming it's digitally drawn right? I especially like the way the background is painted in that sort of blotchy pattern.

Yeah I drew it in GIMP with a Wacom tablet.

Nice. Yeah I've got a Wacom tablet too. Mines pretty old though so I should probably upgrade soon. I've always wanted one with tilt functionality so I can program in brush angle stuff for my art in photoshop. Currently my tablet only has pressure functionality which is good for what I'm currently doing but it would be great to try out one of the tilt ones.

The tablet I have is pretty basic, I don't think it has pressure functionality, although it might. I've recently downgraded from Photoshop Elements to GIMP, which I don't believe has pressure or tilt. If it does I haven't discovered how to access it. I'm not as worried about that as much as I am about the responsiveness. There's a lag to GIMP that I don't know is fixable. It makes drawing smooth lines nearly impossible.

I use MSPaint and my mouse or the OHR's sprite editor, my mouse, and my keyboard most of the time. GIMP would just fight against me when I tried to learn it.

The version of Gimp that I use (2.8.10) has support for both pressure sensitivity and pen tilt.

The settings for this are in Edit->Input Devices

I don't know about the lag. Do you see the lag with the mouse also?

I am now noticing those features. Perhaps I am simply not perceptive.

And yes the lag is regardless of device. Although I'm not sure lag is an appropriate description. It doesn't have lag spikes, but rather is consistently slow to pick up input. It feels like controlling a game that has a low framerate, which makes me think I might need to run it with more ram or something, or that the program's ticks are too long.

You should open up the Task Manager, and look at the CPU performance charts.

Leave it open while you work in the gimp, and see if your CPU usage is spiking really high while you draw.

Are you on Windows or something else?

I'm on a Mac. That could easily contribute.

EDIT: The task manager spikes a bit, especially if I use a large brush size.

Dang! That looks great, Fenrir!

Which game is this?

@Kylekrack: I found this post from someone suffering the same problem. Apparently this is a known bug with Gimp on Mac. Supposedly the workaround is to downgrade to Gimp 2.6 or upgrade to Gimp 3.0... BUT....

The trouble with 2.6 is that 2.8 was the first "native" version, so to get 2.6 to work, you have to install the XQuartz X11 server. It also seems difficult to even find a copy of Gimp 2.6. I could not find one on the official gimp.org website. I have a copy of gimp 2.6 on my Mac at work-- but it seems to be compiled for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), and does not correctly on my Mac OS X 10.7.5 I don't know which version you are running, but if you are on an older Mac and want to try it, I can send you the file.

The trouble with 3.0 is that not released yet, but you might want to try the experimental build of "McGimp 2.9" from http://partha.com/ which probably has the same bugfixes that the official Gimp 3.0 will have when it releases (I think McGimp is kinda like the equivalent of running the nightly wip ohrrpgce)
