Okay, I've reread this entire thread (no easy task) and tracked down everything that's officially released for this contest. In my rereading I've discovered a critical note that I need to reiterate, which I will do at the end of this thread.
Now, as promised, here is the updated list as of midnight EST November 29th:
Original:
Universal Wars by jcenterprises
Illusions by MasterK
DUNGEONMEN: Men of Dungeons by KF Harlock and Shizuma
Reign of Grelok by misac
Legacy by BMR
Super Penguin Chef by Mogri
AR-PUH-GUH! by Meowskivich
Kinvesard by Spoonweaver
Dreg Sector: The Tract by Willy Elektrix
NO MORE VILLAINS by Fenrir-Lunaris
Cool Guy Bob Surlaw by The Wobbler
Rereleased:
Abel by BlastedEarth (on Castle Paradox)
Final Dragon Legacy by mjohnson092088
Legendary Heroes by Spoonweaver
OHR Legends:
Vikings of Midgard by Fenrir-Lunaris
Games I'm Not Sure About (but were uploaded during the window):
Doom: Evil Unleashed by thespazztikone
Spirit Chronicles RIFT Demo by alphawolf
Pearl Tear by Sparrowhawk (on Castle Paradox)
The game I inquired about yesterday, Ephixial, hasn't been officially entered, nor is it long enough or complete enough to qualify, so it is officially off the list.
Abel, I believe, has been officially submitted, but I'm waiting for BlastedEarth to confirm since he intended to enter the contest but never stated which game he was entering. Also, I'm not sure if this is updated, newly released, or what. The title screen says 2010, so I'm assuming it's been publicly released before. I'll be officially counting it as a rerelease until someone verifies differently.
James Paige wrote:In the 2010 HotOHR contest there was an official cut-off date for my fixes, and after that I had to pay up... we never picked a hard date for the 2012 HotOHR bugfixes.
I thought we had set a deadline for December 31st (like last time). Honestly, this one's yours, so you can pick whatever deadline you want. I'd prefer it be the 31st, but it's also not my money, so you have the final say.
Now, for two important notes:
1. I have not heard from Inferior Minion about the T-shirts since last April. I assume they're still being offered, but I really don't know. I'm waiting for him to respond to me about them. I will update you on the status of T-shirts if and when I find out. For now I'll just say that I hope you're not entering strictly to get a T-shirt.
2. I discovered that I had let in two late entries in 2010 (Hero and Do You Want to Be a Hero?). The condition for their late acceptance was that they forfeited certain entry prizes, but they were still allowed to participate in the contest. I think I should allow that again for anyone who uploads after tomorrow night but before December 8th. You can still be eligible for the contest, but not the entry prizes (which won't matter anyway if those shirts are off the table). So, for people like Stewitus P. and anyone else who has to drop out because of time, I can actually buy you one more week if you don't mind forfeiting the entry prizes but still want to try for the main prizes.
Lastly, we now have 15 entries in the contest (three more than last time), so I will be bringing Heart of the OHR back in 2014! Congratulations, guys, for making this officially a biannual contest.
That should be everything for now. Keep those releases coming.
EDIT: Due to the high volume turnout of this year's contest, I am now officially making HotOHR a biannual contest. So, if for any reason I go AWOL from the community at some point, just remember that Heart of the OHR is due to begin on June 1st and end on November 30th of every even-numbered year from here on out. You guys don't have to wait for me to announce it to make it official. I'm making it official now. The prizes may change, but you all know how it works. If you have something to contribute to the prize pot, just say so on or before June 1st of the scheduled year and it will be added in.
I'll still be running it for as long as I'm part of this community. But even if I stop coming around, I still want it to continue every other year. I'll trust that one of you will launch it if I don't launch it first. All I ask is that you keep the contest structured the way I have it now. You can make small modifications to adjust for the times, but don't alter it so much that it's no longer the Heart of the OHR.
(And this isn't me saying I plan to leave soon. Just want a contingency plan in the event that I do move on at some point.)
