Mostly Involving Robots: The Log

Exported my text boxes, and made them a google doc so I could easily edit them from wherever, thus rather nicely expanding the amount of time in the day I could work on MIR.
I have enough graphics to make a town, a simple world map, and a dungeon. At this point, any additional graphics I make are a luxury to make the game prettier, not something I strictly need (expect a table, maybe). While I retain the right to work on whatever I feel like working on, I'm going to try to direct my energy towards making the start of the game, so that I might be able to release a demo one day. I have vague thoughts about Halloween, but I'm running into the rather nasty snag of "I'm not getting this music thing". I actually bought a book on music theory, and am slowly learning, but I don't seem to be able to make anything useful
I neither want to make a silent game, nor rip music from other games. I'm aware of free midi places, but at this point, it feels a little cop-outy. I suppose I can hope to be able to do my "thing a day" during the actual day, and study music during the night.
I suppose in the end it'll be ready when it's ready, and not a moment before. I'll announce a release date for the demo on the day I earn enough slimebucks from the log to beat Judge Slimehold

Starting to get this music thing.
Made a nice little song, that gets repetitive VERY fast, so I'll probably use it as a title screen music, if at all. But I'm happy with it, and think I know how to do this a little now. What's the best way to share a midi file with the slime community?
Also exported and messed with my text boxes a little.

Yeah, it's short and simple-ish and all... but it's not bad. And it sounds like music instead of random noise!Today, I made a song!.
This one has a melody and everything!
In other words, you're already pretty much infinitely better at making music than I am.

Yesterday: 1 whole text box
Today: My second attempt at a town theme
I like this one more, but I'm told you can't hear the guitar. I hear it fine.

I like this one better than the first, though I notice that, without exception, every instrument changes notes at the same time, which gives it kind of a stilted, amateurish feel. Try breaking the melody away from the harmony a little bit. You're using mostly half notes, so the lead instrument has a lot of room. For example, you might try giving the lead instrument an additional note, say, a beat or half a beat before the start of a measure that is a step below the note at the start of a measure. Likewise, in the few runs you have, you might consider leaving the melody as is and letting the harmony hold the opening note throughout, then joining the melody and harmony at the end of the run.
Er... Let me know if that made any sense.

I uploaded a brief edit of your song just to show you what I mean.

Thank you for the remix! It really does improve on what I had, and has me thinking
I'm thinking of trying for an A minor song. Like C major, it's easy to remember (the white notes!), but it has a different feel. I think it might help me to experiment a bit and try different things. Then I'll go back to the C major town theme, before maybe trying something silly, like G Pentatonic Blues
But....it's C major scale, right? Shouldn't I start and end every run (Stanza? I have poor music vocab) on a C?You're using mostly half notes, so the lead instrument has a lot of room. For example, you might try giving the lead instrument an additional note, say, a beat or half a beat before the start of a measure that is a step below the note at the start of a measure.

A new song appears!
Still learning. Need to get out of C Major sometime. Trying to get a feel for the other scales.
Also came up with the idea that my main would have mediocre stats, and lots of "Focus"-type moves (Defense focus, caster focus, etc). Decent enough idea, I think.
