WHOA. This reminds me of... something.
I just can't remember the name of it... it was this old (80s or early 90s) computer game that I found on a "500 games" CD back in elementary school which had that same kind of multicolored first-person 3D dungeon thing... and also really bizarre enemies like drug addicts and trash cans with legs.

Another WIP shot. The vials on the right indicate health and magic, and update accordingly.
The symbols on the left are menu items, which you select with the mouse. Hopefully, you can guess whats what. The mouse is also used to pick-up/activate items in the view screen.
The left portrait is an NPC, and the right is the player.

An 8-bit world and a familiar face from Triangle-lore? Nah. That couldn't be...

All of the above games look pretty cool!
Shining in the Darkness is a particularly colourful first person dungeon crawler, but there are a zillion of those. (But I do remember well playing the demo of Ancients 1: Deathwatch. I sunk tonnes of time into that and finished it, but even back then I realised it wasn't that great a game, way too bland. Before the days of the internet when I couldn't just search for better examples of a genre.)

Started working on my platformer again. There's a lot of work to do to get back to where I was, but I feel like it's worth it. Though, I think I'm going to make it more of a Metroidvania than like Zelda 2. The random encounter script was one of the things that I lost and was also one of the things that I felt I wasn't doing very well.

I think I'm going to try to go all out on this game. I think it might have potential enough to get on steam or humble bundle.
