One of the major goals for my game is to make sure everything is my creation. That means no ripped graphics, sounds, music, (hopefully ideas...), and even...
Try to make your letter spacing nice and evened out, as well as letter size being consistent. A lot of OHR games that use a custom font don't do this, so their fonts end up having a disjointed look that makes it less pleasing to read.
<TheGiz> oh hai doggy, oh no that's the straw that broke tjhe came baclsb
Oh right! I did draw it, as well as the rest of , . < > / ' : ; { } + = - _ \ | ` ~ but I didn't post them. They were all pretty straight forward, to be honest. I don't feel like making another image at the moment.
The thick exclamation marks/periods/colons look really bad with the otherwise thin font. The lowercase k looks... odd. Everything else is fine I guess, but I don't really see the point of making your own font if it's going to look so normal, even if you are just going for originality. It doesn't look as good as the default font.
I'm with surlaw on this one. I really don't see the point in making everything yourself. Because, honestly, you can't. There's lots of stuff that is built into the engine that you can't change. So making things yourself, just for the sake of making them yourself, is kind of a wasteful idea.
That said. The font is readable. That's really all that matters.
Making some good progress on this. Trying to finish it up, heh. I think this is the only safe screenshot I can show you guys without giving away who won.
