Slime Salad

I wish to play an OHR game, and have no idea how to operate my new computer's OS. The computer asks, "run the file with what?" And I click on the OHR icon on my desktop. This opens up a sub-menu in which OHRPGCE-Game and OHRPGCE-Custom are both grayed out. As far as I can tell, it does not know that this is how it is supposed to run.

Right now I'm too angry to search a wiki in a rational manner, so I'm asking the experts here. If it helps, my desktop is set up to double as a cloud storage space. Could this be interfering with OHR's functions?

One solution: run OHRRPGCE-Game.app and browse to the .rpg file.

I've never used OS 10.12 either, but maybe they're greyed out because of the "Enable: Recommended Applications" option. Maybe those apps don't correctly declare that they can open .rpg files.

But actually I can't even remember whether OHRRPGCE-Custom.app and OHRRPGCE-Game.app support opening an .rpg in that way or by drag-dropping the .rpg file onto it. Try drag-dropping.

Oh, also, is that a .dmg file they're in? Maybe you can't run apps from within a .dmg file.

You definitely can't run the apps while they are still inside the .dmg archive. Extract the apps out of the dmg by dragging them into your "Hamster Games" folder (or your Applications folder or wherever) then they should be usable

That makes much more sense. I was somewhat spoiled by Skype auto-installing from the .dmg and being on my toolbar, so I'm not used to this function. Then again, learning to not treat computers like black boxes is part of why I'm here. Thanks, guys.
