"Standing Strike" animation?

So my game is jury-rigged to have a SaGa type battle system, and it's working fine except for the fact that the "strike" attack animation causes the heroes to walk to the left before attacking. My current solution is to just use the "cast" animation for everything, but that's less than desirable since I can't make any use of weapon sprites. Is there any way to have a strike animation without the walking part?
