Question about crafting with the Craft skill.
When Kalar uses Unseen Crafter, the crafter can last for 9 days at a time. If he sets it to make weapons, and assuming there's a supply nearby, would the following calculations be correct?
Kalar orders the unseen crafter to make shortspears using wood for the hafts (assuming there are some trees in the area at least) with stone for the pointy bits.
The crafter has a +7 (Kalar's Wis bonus) to its craft skill, and can take 10. So it can consistently hit a 17 on its craft check.
Following the rules on
Craft skill page, the item's price is 1 gp = 10 sp.
The DC of simple weapons is 12.
Kalar doesn't pay one third of the item's cost for raw materials as they are going to be taken from the environment rather than purchased.
The crafter's check for one week of work is 17, which means the check succeeds.
The check multiplied by the DC is 17 × 12 = 204.
According to the text, "If the result × the DC equals the price of the item in sp, then you have completed the item. (If the result × the DC equals double or triple the price of the item in silver pieces, then you’ve completed the task in one-half or one-third of the time. Other multiples of the DC reduce the time in the same manner.)".
The price of the item in sp is 10 sp, meaning the check is 2,040% higher than the cost and the crafter would be done in far less time.
Would I be right in assuming that in a week's time the unseen crafter could make 20 spears?
Being from the third world, I reserve the right to speak in the third person.
