Which item should Kalar make next for the party? Bill's saddlebags had 5,285 gp in them, assuming they were not removed from the saddlebag (didn't read anywhere that they were).

Glove of the Glorious Sun

Upon using the command word "luxac", the wearer of this glove can expend a charge in the glove to send a ray of burning sunlight towards a target. The ray is a ranged touch attack that deals 2d6 damage. Undead always take double damage.

Spell Used: Sun Bolt (Shining South)
Spell Level: 2
Caster Level: Lowered to 3

Command word: 2 (spell level) × 3 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 10,800 gp
Charged: 10,800 gp / 2 = 5,400 gp
Arbitrary (Does not cause blindness): 5,400 gp - 5% = 5,130 gp

Final Cost: 5,130 gp & 205 xp (6 days)

Glove of Healing

This glove is nearly identical to Kalar's. The only difference is that it can be used by anyone and is not limited to evil clerics. With each use, it heals 1d8+1 points of damage.

Spell Used: Cure Light Wounds
Spell Level: 1
Caster Level: Lowered to 1

Command word: 1 (spell level) × 1 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 1,800 gp

Final Cost: 1,800 gp & 72 xp (2 days)

Candle Lighter

This magic item looks like an ordinary twig, except that one end seems to glow as if from a perpetual ember. When the tip is touched to an object, it causes it to glow like a candle, shedding light in a 5-foot radius for one hour.

Spell Used: Candlelight (Ghostwalk)
Spell Level: 0
Caster Level: Lowered to 1

Use-activated or continuous: 0.5 (spell level) × 1 (caster level) × 2,000 gp = 1,000 gp

Final Cost: 1,000 gp & 40 xp (1 day)

Hammer of Crafting

This is an ordinary craftsman's hammer, and is unsuitable for combat. Once a week, upon using the word "reparum", this hammer will manifest an invisible servant. The servant can be set to begin crafting or repairing anything the user desires. This servant uses the user's Craft skill and persists for 7 days with each use. The servant still needs an appropriate set of tools and materials to complete the crafting.

Spell Used: Unseen Crafter (Races of Eberron)
Spell Level: 2
Caster Level: Lowered to 7

Command word: 2 (spell level) × 7 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 25,200 gp
Charges per day: 25,200 gp / (5 / (1/7 days) charges per day) = 720 gp

Final Cost: 720 gp & 29 xp (1 day)

Rob's Standard

This is an additional effect added to Rob's Standard. When held aloft, and the word "fortis" is said, all allies within 60 feet of the bearer of the standard receives a +6 morale bonus on saves against fear. This effect lasts for one hour and can be used once a day.

Spell Used: Cloak of Bravery (Spell Compendium)
Spell Level: 3
Caster Level: Lowered to 6

Command word: 3 (spell level) × 6 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 32,400 gp
Charges per day: 32,400 gp / (5 / 1 charges per day) = 6,480 gp
Require Class (Bard): 6,480 gp - 30% = 4,536 gp

Final Cost: 4,536 gp & 181 xp (5 days)

Glove of Shattering

Upon touching an object, the wearer of this glove can say the word "discutum" to activate the glove. Upon doing so, the object (must be solid and weigh 30 lbs or less) completely shatters apart. This glove cannot be used against creatures. This can be used three times per day, and each use consumes a single charge. The glove starts out with 50 charges.

Spell Used: Shatter
Spell Level: 2
Caster Level: Lowered to 3

Command word: 2 (spell level) × 3 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 10,800 gp
Charges per day: 10,800 gp / (5 / 3 charges per day) = 6,480 gp
Charged: 6,480 gp / 2 = 3,240 gp
Arbitrary (Cannot be used against creatures and does not have the spell's area attack.): 3,240 gp - 20% = 2,592 gp

Final Cost: 2,592 gp & 104 xp (3 days)

Pebble of Antivenom

This tiny pebble is strung onto a piece of string to be worn as an amulet. Once, and only once, when the wearer is affected by poison the pebble shatters completely negating the poison.

Spell Used: Neutralize Poison
Spell Level: 4
Caster Level: Lowered to 7

Single use, use-activated: 4 (spell level) × 7 (caster level) × 50 gp = 1,400 gp
Arbitrary (Cannot be used on objects or creatures as is normal with the spell.): 1,400 gp - 5% = 1,330 gp

Final Cost: 1,330 gp & 53 xp (2 days)

Pebble of Delayed Venom

This tiny pebble is strung onto a piece of string to be worn as an amulet. Once, and only once, when the wearer is affected by poison the pebble begins to turn black. For three hours, the poison is held at bay. Once three hours are up, the pebble shatters and the poison takes effect. This does not provide immunity to poison, but it gives the wearer enough time to get to a healer who can deal with the poison.

Spell Used: Delay Poison
Spell Level: 2
Caster Level: Lowered to 3

Single use, use-activated: 2 (spell level) × 3 (caster level) × 50 gp = 300 gp
Arbitrary (Cannot be used on objects or creatures as is normal with the spell.): 300 gp - 5% = 285 gp

Final Cost: 285 gp & 11 xp (1 day)

Nimbus Lantern

This appears to be an ordinary lantern, but upon close inspection, it is shown that there is no flame within. The lantern sheds bright light in a 30 foot radius. In addition, as a move action, the bearer of the lantern can hold the lantern up and focus the light inside. When focused, as a standard action, the bearer can send the energy towards a target as a ranged touch attack. This causes the light in the lantern to vanish, but it reappears six seconds (one round) later. Other than using the lantern as a ray, the light cannot be extinguished. The lantern can be covered, however.

Spell Used: Nimbus of Light (Spell Compendium)
Spell Level: 1
Caster Level: Lowered to 1

Use-activated or continuous: 1 (spell level) × 1 (caster level) × 2,000 gp = 2,000 gp
Continuous: 2,000 gp × 2 = 4,000 gp

Final Cost: 4,000 gp & 160 xp (4 days)

The pebbles are a good idea. I wonder if there are any other afflictions that deserve one-time defences like that?

The hammer of crafting also sounds useful, and seems cost efficient.

Affliction one-time defenses? Hmm, there's Remove Blindness/Deafness, Remove Curse, and Remove Disease off the top of my head. They would cost similarly to the Delay Poison one, as they share the same level.

Those do all sound potentially useful.

How about a one-time use item that casts <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/restor ... estoration, Lesser</a> to heal ability damage?

Might be a bit costly in the long-run to make that many one-use items. I decided on this instead:

Skull of Life

This looks to be an ordinary human skull, except for the divine symbol engraved onto its skull. Once every three days, when a creatures touches the skull and says the word "medilux", (or someone holds the skull and touches it to someone while saying the word) divine energy pours into the individual. This cures 1d4 points of temporary ability damage, eliminates fatigue, removes blindness, removes deafness, removes a curse (given by bestow curse), removes a non-magical disease, and neutralizes all poison. Each use consumes one charge, and the item starts out with 50 charges.

Spell Used: Restoration, Lesser
Spell Level: 2
Caster Level: Lowered to 3

Spell Used: Delay Poison
Spell Level: 2
Caster Level: Lowered to 3

Spell Used: Remove Blindness/Deafness
Spell Level: 3
Caster Level: Lowered to 5

Spell Used: Remove Curse
Spell Level: 3
Caster Level: Lowered to 5

Spell Used: Remove Disease
Spell Level: 3
Caster Level: Lowered to 5

Spell Used: Neutralize Poison
Spell Level: 4
Caster Level: Lowered to 7

Command word: 2 (spell level) × 3 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 10,800 gp (Restoration, Lesser)
Command word: 3 (spell level) × 5 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 27,000 gp (Remove Blindness/Deafnes)
Command word: 3 (spell level) × 5 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 27,000 gp (Remove Curse)
Command word: 3 (spell level) × 5 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 27,000 gp (Remove Disease)
Command word: 4 (spell level) × 7 (caster level) × 1,800 gp = 50,400 gp (Neutralize Poison)

Total: 141,400 gp (adding multiple different abilities to an item that does not take up space on a character's body does not incur additional costs)

Charges per day: 141,400 gp / (5 / (1/3 days) charges per day) = 9,427 gp
Charged: 9,427 gp / 2 = 4,713 gp

Final Cost: 4,713 gp & 189 xp (5 days)

Charges per day: 141,400 gp / (5 / (1/3 days) charges per day) = 9,427 gp
Charged: 9,427 gp / 2 = 4,713 gp
You can't have both of these.
Charged means it runs out and charges per day means it doesn't.

Also, what is this? 5 / (1/3 days)
I assume you mean it gets 5 charges every 3 days.
However, there's not a rule for such things to my knowledge. Imagine if you set an item for 5 charges every year, you'd get an item with 5 charges that costs less to make than a scroll.

There should be some kind of rule to cover it, I know I've seen items that have an effect "Once a week" or "Once every 30 days" like Rod of Splendor or Lyre of Building. BMR's interpretation is hlarious when you explain it though

Was anybody supposed to get any exp after that sleep?

I know most of us didn't do much, but I was surprised that Kalar didn't get any, after that big battle he single-handedly orchestrated.

Ok, I'll concede that it can't have charges per day and 50 charges, that was a bit of a stretch anyway. I'll rework that item to not use those two together.

As for the once per three days though, I think the formula used works well compared to existing items.

When calculating charges per day, the given formula is:

Base price / (5 / charges per day)

The 1/3 in my formula is once every three days.

I compared it to the Lyre of Building which is the simplest once a week item in the SRD (other once a week items had a whole bunch of effects, making "reverse engineering" difficult.)

The lyre of building uses Fabricate. So it would calculate:

Spell Used: Fabircate
Spell Level: 5
Caster Level: 9

Use-activated or continuous: 5 (spell level) × 9 (caster level) × 2,000 gp = 90,000 gp (the harp is played to use it)
Charges per day: 477,900 gp / (5 / (1/7 days) charges per day) = 13,654 gp

Final Cost: 13,654 gp & 546 xp (14 days)

The 1/7 is once every seven days. The final price with that formula comes out to 13,654 gp. The listed market price on the SRD is 13,000 gp. If a character were to craft the Lyre of Building as written though, it would only cost half the listed price (SRD: "Creating an item costs half the market value listed.") which would be 6,500 gp, significantly less than the formula I used.

Still though, your call. If you want, I can not use that formula.

Kalar would have left the amulet with Lynda. Prolly didn't put it on her though, but it would be right next to her.

Wow, I leave for a little while and story suddenly gets a lot of progress.

Posting to say I'm not dead entirely. My workplace does not quite have internet and I'm on public wifi. So, what's going to become of Lynda while I'm on spotty internet?

Ah you're back, kinda. I suppose I can explain more about where Lynda is and what happened.
Lynda is currently on the Ethereal plane. She's kinda stuck there. She can see everything going on, but can't speak with or touch anything around her.
When you come back, I'm sure Lynda will be able to figure out how to get back to the material plane.
