Peanut

Peanut runs to the left of Beardthar and looses an arrow at the kobold.

Peanut: 10 + 3 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 14 Hit! Peanut hits for (1d6[3] + 0) 3 damage

It punches into the kobold's arm, injuring it pretty badly.

Kobold 4

Wounded, and terrified, the kobold turns and runs.

Before it can get far though, Spittle lashes out with his halberd.

Spittle: 11 + 3 + 3 = 17 Hit! Spittle hits for (1d10[6] + 4) 10 damage

The weapon arcs through the air, cutting into and snapping the kobold's neck.

Combat is Ended!
All players receive 90 experience.

Four of the kobolds lie dead at your feet, while the other two are still on the ground, babbling incoherently, absolutely high on colors and whatever else is going through their minds.

Tim-Tim walks over and finishes off the kobolds that he downed. He hopes to get more clues about the use of his new dagger in doing so.

Peanut plops down on the ground, looking over the wound that he now has, a slight gash where the spear didn't quite penetrate well enough to rupture any organs or disrupt his ability to move. The wound will heal itself over time, surely.

Tim-Tim goes about the kobolds, slitting their throats to finish them off.

Spellcraft (1d20 + Ranks + INT)
Tim-Tim: 13 + 6 + 1 = 20
Despite using the dagger, you don't feel anything particularly magical happening.

Listen (1d20 + Ranks + WIS)
  • Akbar: 16 + 0 + 1 + 1 = 18 Success
    Beardthar: 17 + 0 + 3 = 20 Success
    Peanut: 15 + 4 + 1 + 2 = 22 Success
    Spittle: 17 + 0 + 0 = 17 Fail
    Tim-Tim: 19 + 0 + 3 + 2 = 24 Success
The sound of the gong has stopped, and everything is absolutely quiet. In the distance though, you hear a faint clicking, like ratchets or wheels of some sort. It's too far away to accurately guess what exactly the sound is.

Beardthar takes Seneschal's Ileran's Magic Rod out of his pack, and uses it to restore everyone who is injured.

(He tries to distribute the 30 points of healing as evenly as he can based on how badly each person appears to be injured

Beardthar goes among the party and uses the rod on each member. The rod briefly glow purple each time it's used.

Akbar + 12 hp
Beardthar + 6 hp
Peanut + 3 hp
Spittle + 0 hp
Tim-Tim + 3 hp

Everyone is at full health.

Total used: 24 hp (6 hp left for today)

A quick glance through the kobold's gear, shows that what weapons they were using are mostly of fairly poor quality, hardly worth taking though it is of course an option. Each has a small spear, along with a sling and a pouch of sling bullets.

Spot (1d20 + Ranks + WIS)
  • Akbar: 12 + 0 + 1 + 1 = 14 Success
    Beardthar: 2 + 5 + 3 = 10 Fail
    Peanut: 14 + 5 + 1 = 20 Success
    Spittle: 3 + 0 + 0 = 3 Fail
    Tim-Tim: 7 + 0 + 3 = 10 Fail
In the dim light, you can just make out a brand on the shoulders of each kobold. It looks like a stylized letter "B" set within a triangle which is in turn set within a circle.

Listen (1d20 + Ranks + WIS)
  • Akbar: 1 + 0 + 1 + 1 = 3 Fail
    Beardthar: 16 + 0 + 3 = 19 Success
    Peanut: 2 + 4 + 1 + 2 = 9 Fail
    Spittle: 16 + 0 + 0 = 16 Fail
    Tim-Tim: 6 + 0 + 3 + 2 = 11 Fail
It's very faint, but you can hear footsteps approaching. Both from up north, and the south. You're not too sure, but there are perhaps anywhere from four to six sets of feet to the north, and perhaps two to five sets of feet to the south.

Peanut looks over to one of the Kobolds, and then notices the brand that they have, "Huh? A 'B'? What's with everything being branded on this island?"

Spittle nods and moves to the back, creating a muscle man sandwich with the halfling, gnome and dwarf.

Before you can move anywhere, kobolds burst from the shadows, in numbers that would suggest they intend to swamp you (seeing as how you seemed to be so readily disabling their traps) with typical kobold quantity over quality.

In the western passage, you see one kobold who seems a bit tougher-looking than the rest, perhaps a sergeant of some sort.

Spot (1d20 + Ranks + WIS)
  • Akbar: 5 + 0 + 1 + 1 = 7 Fail
    Beardthar: 12 + 5 + 3 = 20 Success
    Peanut: 3 + 5 + 1 = 9 Fail
    Spittle: 14 + 0 + 0 = 14 Success
    Tim-Tim: 18 + 0 + 3 = 21 Success
Also, to the south, just out of sight, you spot a shadowy figure poised there. Judging by its size, it is definitely not a kobold, a lizardfolk warrior perhaps. It could be the leader of the kobolds, but until it comes into view, you can't be sure.

Begin Combat

Initiative Roll
Kobold 11: 20
Kobold 16: 18
Kobold 18: 17
Holy Saint Akbar al-Akbar: 16
Peanut: 15
Beardthar: 14
Kobold 10: 14
Kobold 17: 12
Lizardfolk: 12
Tim-Tim: 10
Kobold 5: 9
Kobold 12: 7
Kobold 8: 7
Kobold 9: 7
Spittle: 6
Kobold 6: 6
Kobold 15 (Sergeant): 4
Kobold 7: 3

Kobold 11

The kobold runs at Holy Saint Kabar al-Akbar and stabs at him.

Kobold 11: 13 + 1 + -0 = 14 Miss!

The clumsy attack glances off Akbar's armor though, causing no lasting damage.

Kobold 16

The kobold runs through the southern passage, upon seeing that you have a gnome in your party, it charges straight for Tim-Tim. Unfortunately for it though, it didn't take the time to notice the elven paladin standing near Tim-Tim.

Akbar (AoO): 14 + 2 + 2 = 18 Hit! Akbar hits for (2d4[7] + 3) 10 damage

A single two-handed slash with his falchion drops the kobold to the ground in a bloody heap.

Kobold 18

The kobold comes barrelling down the western passage, pushing past his companions in his fervor to get at your party. It jumps at Peanut and stabs at him with his spear.

Kobold: 19 + 1 + -0 = 20 Hit! Kobold hits for (1d6[1] + 0) 1 damage

The spear manages to cut into Peanut's leg. It's mostly a flesh-wound though, and offers no real annoyance to the halfling.

Image

Knowledge (Nature) (1d20 + Ranks + INT)
  • Akbar: 17 + 0 + -1 = 16 Fail
    Beardthar: 1 + 6 + 1 = 8 Fail
    Peanut: 17 + 5 + 2 = 24 Success
    Spittle: 4 + 0 + 1 = 5 Fail
    Tim-Tim: 2 + 0 + 1 = 3 Fail
Something's not right here. While it's true that kobolds will fight very fiercely when pressed, these particular kobolds seem to be far too full of bloodlust and battle-frenzy. It's almost as if something was actively stirring them to the suicidal fury that you see before you now.
