4 globes of light appear around the bear. It is momentarily confused, but only for a second. It then continues its charge.
Brown Bear
The bear barrels toward Spittle and takes a powerful swipe at him.
The Brown Bear: 5 + 4 - 2 + 8 = 15 Miss!
Gray Render
The gray render roars and lumbers forward at Spittle.

Peanut looses two arrows quickly at the gray render.
Arrow 1: 17 + 3 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 21 Hit! Peanut hits for (1d6[5] + 0) 5 damage
Arrow 2: 19 + 3 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 23 Critical hit! Peanut hits for (1d6[15] + 0) 15 damage
The first arrow strikes home into the render's shoulder. It doesn't seem to bother the render much.
The second arrow though, punches into one of the gray render's six eyes causing it to roar in pain. It turns towards the halfling, all attention focused on the puny thing that caused it such pain.

Spittle is frozen for a moment, trying to remember if anyone in his family has ever been eaten by a bear. Brought back to reality by the possibility of being next on the list, he vocalizes the only important thought in his head..
..and then attempts a CHARGING BULL RUSH to get Peanut, the world's most agitating archer, out of harms way, travelling with the halfling to maximize his own distance from the bear.Spittle, at the top of his lungs for everything in the woods to hear wrote:EVERYBODY RUN!!!

Beardthar keeps running also. He tries to remember anything he can from his woodland training about how to deal with bears. he also tries to remember if Gray Renders will imitate the behaviors of their adoptees.
He wishes he had done more thinking *before* sending out the wolves, so he wouldn't have to think and sprint at the same time.

As the party regroups and starts to catch their breath, Beardthar finally remembers some of his Bear-lore, and begins singing an obnoxious song:

Tim-Tim looks around at the party, a little disappointed about what just happened, and also a little tired.
Well, I'm glad no one got hurt. The last thing we need is one less person helping us on this quest. Anyways, when do you think we'll be far enough away from the grey blender to set up camp again.
