The 10' pole that the rope is attached to isn't in the ground very well, there's really no way I can justify that supporting a person in my head and your characters would assume the same.

What's the DC for climbing across the rope? Can I take 10/20 on it? Or will I die horribly trying to cross?

Definitely wait until Cile has secured the other end better than he has already

The rope-end Cile tossed is still attached to the grappling hook.

I'm tempted to look back behind me and just hold the rope, but I also want to see if anything else might happen.

if anything "does" happen, Cile is toast if he's over there alone. it's probably best that we all stick very close together, so we should work on getting across this chasm as quickly and safely as possible. also, Lao isn't great at working with ropes, so even with the grappling hook, it may not be too safe to cross, but we also don't have many other options.

who would've thought a little hole would cause more problems for the party than two ogres and a giant?

Lao and Ehaism could just grab Vire's arms and legs and toss him over... it could be funny.

I don't understand the die casts super well, but I am pretty sure neither Ehaism not Ribbon has enough jumping skill to be able to get over without great peril of death. Cile barely made it, and he has the highest jumping ability of any of us.

At the moment I'd think Vire would have the best chances of climbing across.

Player's can't take 10/20 on climb checks. Taking 20 on a skill check is basically saying that you failed a couple times till you got it right. In this case, failure is not an option. ( well it is an option just not a very good one. ) Taking 10 here is arguable. Basically taking 10 on a skill check means you take your time so you get it right. Under the description of when a player may take 10 on a skill it states that they have to "not be being threatened or distracted" which a hole that could equal death certainly is. In any case, in this situation if you guys were allowed to take 10 not all of you would make it with that 10.

Throwing characters.
(Assuming the players is willing, and that the thrower is large and the throwe is small.)
You would get -8 to attack because of the size and being untrained.
You would add your strength modifierand your bab to the attack.

10ft away would be an AC 10. and then +2 to that AC for each additional 10ft.

So, -8 to hit, AC 12.

Ehaism would need a 12 or higher to make it. Unless of course he raged, then he'd need a 10.

Throwing as a team.
You add both of your strength bonuses to the attack.
You both roll and the lower of the rolls is used.

did I mention possible damage to the character being thrown? I meant to...

Wait, can you actually train in throwing smaller people around?

James, I know what you need to do for your next feat.

Well there's not really an official feat for it that I know of. But I wouldn't be opposed to it.

You realize that the thrown creature/player takes damage right?

he'll be fine. Vire hasn't taken enough damage this campaign anyway.

There's a feat in Races of Stone to throw your allies as projectile weapons at enemies.
