Re: Textbox slice visibility control
That's what I assumed. Didn't see the textbox layer slice. That's much easier to access.

Textbox slice visibility control
I'm using a slice collection for text box visuals for better or for worse, but I'm loading actual textboxes and then hiding them to handle the mechanics of them. This works fine when I use the show textbox command, but there's a frame of delay with automatic textbox advancing. For example, showTextb...

Re: I deleted some games--setting the record straight
As someone who wasn't around for that part of ohr "history", I appreciate the explanation. It certainly doesn't go without saying for those of us who don't have a context for it. This perspective is really valuable, though. Wobbler is right, it's really hard to admit things like that, but ...

Re: State Switching and the Script Stack
That's smart. Not worth rewriting everything at this point, but in the future I'll start with that model probably.

Re: Show off your graphics!
Amazing. I never really felt like I got a good context for what the cities in False Skies looked like. This really changes the whole perspective (literally).

Re: State Switching and the Script Stack
Thanks! That clears my head. I couldn't tell if I was being clever or naive. I shall push on!

State Switching and the Script Stack
So in our current project, I'm programming most of the mechanics and systems from scratch. It also switches between several modes of gameplay, so I have a state manager script that initializes each state correctly. A potential issue I encountered with doing this was that none of the scripts ever act...

That was just a soft agreement, I wasn't actually pressuring for an extension. Just saying I wouldn't be mad about it.

Re: SUMMER SLAM - the next gen of ohr contest
Gaplan pitched a hugely scoped game, so any extra time we get will give me time to add more content. I'm working on programming each system to be functional on a base level, but optimally we'd be able to make them more fun.

Re: Where should I start?
I learned the engine by just trying to make something. It didn't go super well, but then I restarted and tried again with my newfound knowledge. You tend to find little details along the way as you focus on basic things. Eventually you get a good idea of what all the engine's tools are and where the...

Woah, playable Lydia. I haven't played enough W:R to know what would be a good weapon for her, and it's been too long. I guess I gotta go play more!

Re: I can't download the new OHRRPGCE engine. What happened to the link?
I've had a similar issue, where clicking the download links on the wiki doesn't do anything. I think it might be a browser issue, but I'm not sure. My workaround was to download from the nightly archive because I wasn't looking for the stable build anyway. EDIT: Yep just checked the console, clickin...

Re: I wish I coud stop procrastinating.
Spreadsheets can be really nice too. Writing down all the tasks you need to do is a great way to stave off procrastination, because if you're trying to simply remember what you need to do, your brain is dedicating space to remembering. If you write all the stuff down, you don't have to worry about f...

I had one instance where it didn't remember me a few days ago, but haven't had it since.
