Re: Semi-random maps
This game I was trying to make has randomly generated dungeons: https://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7768&p=133732#p133732 Each area is a map definition from Custom, and it generates NPCs randomly upon loading. Whenever you leave an area in the dungeon, it loads a new random ...

Re: The "I'm writing a book" thread
I finally hit 20k words on Nuora. I had a few weeks where finding time for writing was pretty hard, but I've gotten back into the swing of it. It's been a lot of fun building a world and having characters interact with one another. I love the way characters and events kind of take on a life of their...

Re: OHR Halloween 2021
Would submitting an old game be acceptable if it was updated for the contest? I've been wanting to fix a lot of the issue with breakout.rpg.

Re: My new project. Seeking advice.
Oh that's awesome! I didn't realize the mechanics were working already. Then it sounds like you should make a demo! One level of gameplay to put in front of people. Maybe a select, private audience, depending on how public you want to be with it. It sounds like the game is compelling, story and mech...

Re: My new project. Seeking advice.
I would focus on making a vertical slice first. One very linear area with a couple of encounters, a terminal, etc. Make an environment where you can test how everything feels before making a huge commitment to the story and progression. With that, it's much easier to tweak things, debug specific thi...

Re: My Summer Slam 2021 Reviews
It's good to hear that people aren't too put off by how unfinished Fishing 2 is. I was worried about that. The characters are definitely the shining jewel of the game. The artist is just... I'm in love with their work. The game is going to involve the characters a lot more in its completion, and the...

Re: SUMMER SLAM - the next gen of ohr contest
Forgot to credit Prifurin and Nullifi as composers for fishing 2. Updated the games list entry to reflect that. Their music is fantastic so go listen and appreciate it.

Re: SUMMER SLAM - the next gen of ohr contest
Alright, I did what I could to make our submission functional, but it's extremely unfinished. https://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8249 Unfortunately, our connection to the contest theme was narrative based, and Gaplan got really sick, so his story didn't make it into the current...

Wayyy better than regular fishing. This is our submission for the Summer Slam Contest 2021. Gaplan: writer, artist mnym: artist Ravancloak: musician, sound designer kiefJerky: programmer, destroyer of worlds Prifurin, Nullifi: musicians This is a really rough build of the game. We bit off too much f...

Re: Textbox slice visibility control
That's what I assumed. Didn't see the textbox layer slice. That's much easier to access.

Textbox slice visibility control
I'm using a slice collection for text box visuals for better or for worse, but I'm loading actual textboxes and then hiding them to handle the mechanics of them. This works fine when I use the show textbox command, but there's a frame of delay with automatic textbox advancing. For example, showTextb...

Re: I deleted some games--setting the record straight
As someone who wasn't around for that part of ohr "history", I appreciate the explanation. It certainly doesn't go without saying for those of us who don't have a context for it. This perspective is really valuable, though. Wobbler is right, it's really hard to admit things like that, but ...
