Ah, I understand better now. So what you need to do is to temporarily make the camera stop following the hero, and then change the map edge mode to anything other than "crop" put camera(0,0) set map edge mode(default) # # quake all here # set map edge mode&a...

Merry Hanukkah: http://bena.castleparadox.com/monkeyisland.zip Haven't tested it, but I'm pretty sure it needs an amiga emulator. I think I'm using WINUAE. <a href="http://www.scummvm.org/">ScummVM</a> is the <i>monkeyest</i> way to play Money Island :) Yes, it supports the data files fro...

I hate to rate things in terms of "best ever" since what I like best depends a lot on my current mood. But I would rank Monkey Island 3 pretty darn high on the list. We Love Katamari is way up there too, as is Shadow Of the Colossus . I am also a big fan of Awale. When I am away from compu...

Hey, the winning team posted <a href="http://www.supereffective.org/?page_id=4">a windows build of their game "Robot Underground"</a> I highly recommend it. It is an action-RPG (note that you also have to install <a href="http://avbin.googlecode.com/files/avbin-win32-3.zip&q...

Huh? Why? What is the purpose of imposing a palette limitation on this contest? It isn't a bad palette... I just don't get what it has to do with any of the goals of the contest from your original post.

Hey, does anybody remember the *original* OHR House? No, I'm not talking about the first episode of the game, I mean the In-Real-Life OHR House. The first, last, and only OHRRPGCE micro-convention. It was held in somebody's house (I forget who's) and like 3 or four people attended (I don't remember ...

It used to wrap around to the bottom tiles when going up, but now it does nothing (until I add a new set of tiles). Hmmmm.... So this does definitely seem to have been caused by a bugfix to crop mode. (crop mode should always crop the camera position, even if you move the camera with scripting) But...

Hmmm. If the script you posed above was run with the camera in the top-left corner of a "crop" map, I would expect it to quake one tile down, but never to quake up. To confirm that I understand this correctly: In an old version, it used to quake up 1, down 2, up 2, down 1, showing a black ...

So this worked on an older version, but does not work now?

What is the edge type of this map? Your original comments make it clear that it is not a wrapping map, but I'm not sure which of the other two types this is.

This could be a side-effect of a bugfix relating to map wrapping.

ideas for this

I want to re-do the interface for setting those points. I imagine a menu item that would say "Set hand point" Choosing that menu item should take you to a separate menu where you have a choice of Return to hero editor set hand point for frame 1 set hand point for frame 2 And when you choos...

How many choices can a custom menu have? 20. (Well, 21, but strange things happen, but I'm not sure if they affect gameplay.) I learned that the hard way. (If you try to make too many, the "New Item" option will disappear, and if you select the Blank space in it's place, it starts changin...

Yes, preferred target means the enemy will always (if possible) choose the target that fits the target stat and target condition. There isn't any randomness to it. If you want antidote to prefer a poisoned target, you want weakest poison register. A full register is an inactive register. As for the ...

I have interest in eventually adding some form of roguelike item-identification as a built-in feature of the OHR's item system.

If such a feature existed, how would want it to work? Your ideas can help me plan it.
