I can't think of many OHR games that have done it (I did it in one area in Walthros back in 2002) but it's been around in commercial RPGs for a long time. It's a nice touch.

I still think a simple "top choices get a couple extra points, everything else gets 1" system like we use for GOTY works fine but I like this suggestion too.

I know you're joking but just so people know the new issue has had around 140 unique views since going online two days ago. It's not huge, but it's not nothing.

I'll edit the HS52 version when I get home. I think the easiest solution to eliminating games that only have two or three votes ranking (even though some of the two vote games are ones I like!) would be to not make it a Top 30. If there aren't enough votes to fill out a list of 30 games, just cut it...

I saw nothing seriously wrong with the content of this month's reviews from anyone, and I try not to rewrite people's grammar when assembling an issue because I don't want to modify someone else's tone and delivery, even if the result is messy. If you feel that the content is too redundant, maybe yo...

Spoonweaver, I liked the music in your game but I didn't feel it really fit. Still, good music that doesn't fit is better than bad music that does. Though, some of the games on that list really make me question the value of the list itself. It's because the voting wasn't open very long and not enoug...

Most games that get significant updates get multiple reviews.

The August Issue, it's here! Willy and Meat turn out a bunch of reviews, Neospade climbs a Tower, and Bob the Surlaw draws a picture of his dad and sends it to me and I post it for him.

I wasted way too much time getting the submarine to work exactly the way it should, but it's good to go now. I really wish save files could save NPC positions/write map block commands without needing to use scripting. I also started finalizing a sidequest. http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/3096/vil...

It's been a while. Quest log, some of the bosses (contains spoilers I guess) , and the ghosts of Fire Island. Don't go in the bushes. http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/276/village0005.png http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/7132/village0007.png I think I'm ditching the Merit Badge system, it wasn't wo...

@ Surlaw - What's another site you would recommend? I'm always looking for new resources. I don't know of one, which is part of what makes TV Tropes so frustrating. JSH is right on in his post above. Also, a game that went out of its way to avoid every cliche possible would end up being boring as h...

They're not just cliches because, as Newbie points out, the site lists every occurrence of a story/character element they can think of in every form of media possible no matter how minor or insignificant it is. An actual list of recurring themes throughout culture is interesting, this is not what TV...

I have only occasionally glanced at tvtropes, but my understanding of it is that it is a wiki dedicated to exhaustively documenting clichés, memes, and pop culture minutiae. Is that indeed what it is all about? Yes, only instead of being written in a typical wiki style it's written by horribly unfu...

And people complain about MY site design, holy god.

That's odd, where is the Facebook "like" button on this issue (I want to share this with the world). Last month I was the one and only person to click it, and it felt stupid to have it there with "one person likes this" next to it. You can just copy and paste the link if you wan...
