I did post on CP, and Facebook. Usually I only get 1-2 votes from CP-specific users.

Edit: Crap, my CP post never went through. That's bull; I had it HTML formatted and everything.

http://www.jsh.illuminative.org/town.PNG Across the creek, an elderly woman named Muriel lives in a trailer. She used to dance for the troops during the war, and was quite the looker. She has photos of her glory days spattered all over the walls, and her kitchen is in disarray. Muriel hates everyon...

That may be, but there is no reason to resort to using ad hominem remarks such as "all OHR developers are mental patients" to get a point across. This type of language is not going to make people take their work more seriously; it will only make them angry at the writer. Maybe I'm easily o...

The Top 30, Winter 2009

Here we go again people. First, here is the previous Top 30 List for reference: http://www.jsh.illuminative.org/top_30/top30summer09.html In order to make the list as COOL as possible, it's nice to get some comments from voters. Please, if you would, submit: 1) Something you like about the game 2) A...

Well, since I have ended up working from home since my move, I will have more free time to work on stuff like this. If anyone is interested, I'm still willing to pass on the duty, but I can try and scramble up a list this winter. Issue 32 or 33 I suppose.

Doesn't Gato Sucio already have like, three reviews? There are "real" OHR games with less than that. :/ I liked most of the reviews this issue, though I couldn't really pick one out as my favorite, so I didn't vote for any of them. Good work, fellows. Momoka's article, once again, was grea...

Well, dang. This is pretty great. Keep up the good work. It's kinda hard to say much about it since it's Tetris, but yeah. Minor nitpicks: - Can't rotate on the very ends of the screen. - Don't like the Midi. I know there are some good ogg/mp3 versions of the song out there; a boost in quality would...

Surlaw already runs a "best games of the year" list in HamsterSpeak. Making the Top 30 only count for recent games would be pretty redundant in that light, don't you think? You're entitled to your opinion, but I really can't see the logic in having two lists that show the same thing, and t...

Nobody's forcing you to vote. If you're not going to anyway, why should it be changed to meet your specifications?

Top 30 Duty

Hey all, I've had a pretty good time running the Top 30 over the past few years, but I would really like to give somebody else the opportunity to run it. If we continue on the schedule I had going, December should be the next HamsterSpeak issue to feature a list. Is anyone interested in taking the r...

If the text box is still being displayed, you can use "current text box" to return the number.

Otherwise, you could have a script call the text box in the first place, which will make things easier on you.

Not sure about the third question.

Well if you are interested in RPGs, there are many different RPG construction engines that can take care of some of the more annoying aspects of coding one. Or you can try programming one from scratch, but I highly recommend starting with an engine so you have at least some idea of what needs to be ...

What sort of games are you interested in making? Do you have any experience programming already? Are you more interested in making games casually now or looking toward building your resume, so to speak? Are you interested in focusing on a specific aspect of game design (art, music, general code, etc...
