That said, there's a pretty long list of new releases from the past year that never got a review. if i were to write a review, how would you want me to go about doing it? create a .txt file and send it to you? writing it on slimesalad.com would kinda be pointless if it's meant for the magazine. Wri...

The touch screen just uses the mouse. I ran FF3DS on it perfectly fine (that game is slow as mess and practically requires frameskipping). Touch screen isn't important to DQ6DS anyway. Like Surlaw says though, you should eventually pay for the games anyway. Emulators should ideally just be used for ...

has anyone been able to patch the japanese ROM with NPR's english patch? apparently, it's 90% complete. everytime i patch it, however, my emulator can't play it. it says it's a bad rom... i've looked up how to patch ROMs many times, or at least this one specifically. i really really want to start p...

Agreed with Baconlabs about starting over, and personally I would start totally from scratch. If your first game was successful it might have been worth reusing what you had, but since it has issues that even you came out and admitted, it isn't serving you to keep trying to polish something that is ...

JSH understands things JSH understands things I'm really glad someone else made the point that the DQs are NOT about grinding, but about exploring and fighting battles as you do so. That, and spending and saving intelligently. Interestingly, this might mean that DQ games can actually be 'harder' wi...

Whoah, whoah. My point was that grinding is unnecessary . I didn't say anything about whether or not it was entertaining, which is an entirely different subject. There's no reason to grind in a Dragon Quest game, not even for money. You pick up enough armor in dungeons to make up for any you didn't ...

I've played a fair bit of the translated ROM myself (and got stuck after getting caught impersonating a prince), but I'm planning on getting the DS release, if only to get a better sense of what I'm actually supposed to do. About the battles... aside from a few at the beginning (when I kept on gett...

Use autonumbered scripts/functions to eliminate as much redundant code as possible. You will be glad you did later on. Even if you're using a custom system, you can always store values for enemies and such in the engine; just look them up with scripts when needed. It's up to you though. Use slices a...
