A while back I had an idea revolving around controlling multiple different characters independently from one another. I began putting a tech demo together for it, but I never finished and that's lost by now. Anyway, the way I had it set up was by disabling caterpillar mode on the 4 heroes in a party...

Great screenshot.

I love that engine too. The only problem would be drawing all the graphics. Also, doesn't it only support 2 or 3 different floor tiles?

All of these tracks are fantastic! It's rare to hear midi songs of this caliber. I really love them.

Do you use them for just your own games or do you have them available to others?

Ok, I have a more serious idea now, but I still want to make sure it fits the guidelines. I'd like to make a game which focuses around a family somewhat in shambles. You, the daugher, among many other relatives, are visiting for the obligatory Christmas dinner held every year at your parents' house....

Can I make a game about an unfortunate child who accidentally writes a letter to Satan instead of to Santa, then receives some presents that are a little more possessed than hoped for? He has to employ the help of Santa and his elves in order to stop the evil teddy bear destroying the city.

So to any musicians or non-musicians, I found a pretty great program for making 8-bit music. It's called FamiTracker, and it emulates NES and Famicom instruments. It doesn't come with any premade instruments, so you have to make them yourself, but that gives you a lot of control over the sound. And ...

It's pretty hard to say. Palette B definitely has more contrast though, giving it a darker feel. I think it would make more sense for those to be indoor lighting and the others outdoor or more well lit areas. But I agree with what's said above, it depends on a lot of things like that.

I am working on a new enemy for Overgrowth as my first addition to the awful things I plan on having in this game. I built him out of the pieces of the main character's predecessors :D

Also, @Fenrir: despite how amazing your portrait sprites may be, I've still come to resent your avatar.

Looks like a great interface with some really useful features, especially the tiling layout for the editor. I might have to give this a go.

I gotta say, Pheonix's game was really great overall. I loved the art style, especially the house. The music was really fitting as well, in addition to just being fun to listen to. I think this contest had a pretty good turnout. I really wasn't expecting much given the time frame. Although, I didn't...

Overgrowth: I like the non-grid movement and the really zoomed in nature of the game... but is this even winnable? After a while you get pinned in by those black blob things, and I'm not sure going to the two modems actually does much of anything. I'd like to see it expanded, just so I can where th...

This whole ordeal has been a vital part of the contest. Where would we be without you, Gizmog?

I finished and posted my game in the Games page.

Here is the link: http://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewgame.php?p=119370

I hope it's spoopy enough for you. Also be wary, there are some loud noises (sorry) and ripped music. I'll try to fix it.

Overgrowth Demo

(This is my entry for the Slime Salad 2015 Halloween contest.) Overgrowth is a short game in which you play Mark, a scientist who helped create a deadly, cancerous plant-like organism that will consume everything in sight. Now that he is one of few left capable, he must enter the quarantined lab and...

When's the "deadline"? I've been working on a thing and I want to know what features I'll have time to add.
