Honestly, it's a little ridiculous to make the claim that everyone has the ability to finish something like a game on their own. Few people have done everything for a game on their own, and it's super impressive when they do for a good reason. Games are unlike other media and art forms in that visua...

I don't know why, but right now I'm just really excited to see games being made. The past couple months have been awesome, just seeing that everyone is working on something. So much respect for you all. Everything looks great. I've been working on some of my own stuff lately, and I don't have a Huuu...

I would have such a good chance of finishing something this month if it didn't also happen to be the most rigorous academic term of my life. Now my chances at finishing something are bad, but it's not like unlikelihood is unfamiliar. I have two AMAZING ideas for halloween games and one of 'em is gon...

I started working on a pixel based wall check that I am now realizing is whack. Fixing the movement first should fix that along. The wall check in the main loop was actually a debugging attempt to see if wall checks would work in any condition (it wasn't). I shouldn't have left it there. Thank you f...

Sounds good. I started on that anyway because I still wanted to be working on it instead of just giving up. I have run into a few problems with manipulating a loaded hero sprite (I will be using hero sprites instead of walkabouts in a sidescroller manner). I think I misunderstand what setting the ve...

Moving the Hero with "set slice velocity x()"
Since the slice returned by "get hero slice()" cannot be manually repositioned, is there another slice, such as the "sl:walkabout slice component" child of the hero slice that can be moved? I'd like to see if I can get some movement done easily with the set slice velocity command...

FamiTracker is a good tracker. Anyone can make (strictly) 8-bit songs fairly easily without any background in music. This video has a decent introduction to it. Once you figure out the layout, you can actually make simple but decent stuff really quickly. And if you like, you can take the tracks mad...
