Woohoo! I'd buy it. I fondly remember playing Bob The Hamster VGA back in the late 90s. And Bob's Quest, and DireSPAM. And Lineality.

Damn, now I want to play Lineality. DOSbox ahoy!

I haven't done any actual work on Hollowkeep in weeks. Too much one-thing-after-another BS stress going on, and as of approximately ... today, I'm in full blown "screw it I'm just going to play Skyrim all day" depression. The whole having the game in a releasable state by Halloween thing i...

Shockingly good pixel art app for Android

Little while ago I was bored waiting for laundry and thought I'd see if there are any half decent pixel art apps I could use on my phone. I found one called Pixly that has very few downloads and reviews and decided to give it a try... and found it is insanely good. Great interface and controls and h...

Oh my god. Speaking of Horse Game, I came across this Super Metroid video on Youtube and... this guy. This German guy. I immediately thought of Horse Game.

I figured out how to make custom dithering patterns in GraphicsGale. Unfortunately, the program doesn't support any of my tablet's buttons so general drawing stuff would just be too awkward. So I think I'm gonna try doing sketches and flats in SAI and then move it to GraphicsGale for dithering and h...

I don't know how feasible it'd be to make a simple launcher with fullscreen/windowed, window scale multiplier (x2, x3, etc.), smooth/interpolation, and other options for OHRRPGCE games. But it might make releases on Steam and other platforms where you get more of a general audience a bit more user f...

I'm necroing this thread just for this:

https://soundcloud.com/madbr/sets/valjeran-approved

SNES/PS1 style mini-soundtrack for a game that doesn't exist. Hngh. If I ever have money, the first thing I'm doing is hiring Madbrain to score a game.

Here's the latest backdrop I've been working on for the undercroft of Hollowkeep and I feel very conflicted about it. I think I started to get a little overambitious and tunnel visioned during the design and drawing process and I think that after adding details it now looks overly busy, and attempti...

I finally remembered to get around trying this, and it causes an infinite loop and a black screen on load. I used the example timer in the autorun script to replace the old 'put slice/wait(1)' part. So I'm not sure at all what's up with that. Perhaps I should use timers for everything that isn't the...

Needing to have a way to clonestamp/copy-paste in order to get scenes fleshed out efficiently led me to a realization: I'm gonna need to use something that isn't SAI. It's good for drawing linework and coloring, and while it's been a fun and novel way to do pixel art, its toolset just isn't robust e...

Dang, I should've done that too. I already removed all the silly placeholder text I put in Hollowkeep's demo and now I feel like I need to be overly serious and it's a bit intimidating.

The thing that really gets me while drawing backgrounds for Hollowkeep is dithering... ugh, dithering. So tedious. I wish SAI had a clone stamp tool.

That's a really good point. I spent hours messing around with a background scene for a room on Saturday, and ended up too tired from chores and errands on Sunday to continue working on it. Since my plan is to do artwork stuff on weekends, that's not good and will prevent me from making any sort of d...
