Using a version of CUSTOM w/ Hacker's Keyboard on a tablet would be pretty cool actually. On a phone it'd be... well, a little silly. But I'd definitely use it on a tablet!

But it helps to have something that drives you; what sort of story would you yourself like to see in a game? Having some sort of core storytelling concept in mind can become a huge shiny beacon of artistic di...

Those are some fun tree branches.

Reminds me I need to look at actual leafless tree branches and get a better understanding of how to draw them. In a way I'm still stuck in my grade school put-an-isosceles-triangle-on-a-rectangle phase when it comes to drawing tree pixel art.

Hollowkeep is on hold until I feel inspired to work on it again. I'm lacking the conceptual cohesion to really bring it to fruition at this point. I went in with a 'feel' of the game I wanted and an aesthetic I was shooting for and I think I did succeed on those points so far. But making it a well r...

Behold: The July 1998 4-map version of CUSTOM

I'm not even kidding. I found it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/waxqrt97rect6y8/custom.zip?dl=0 Tested in DOSbox. Seems to work fine, EXCEPT there might be something corrupt in the .new file or something because trying to edit Map 00 makes DOSbox display huge garbled text all over the screen and freeze....

Dropbox is such an easy way to back stuff up. I am seriously tempted to add support for Dropbox backups directly in custom.exe Oh my god, yes please. I've been good at manually copy-pasting the .RPG and .HSS files from the custom folder to my dropbox folder but there's always those times I forget, ...

Unfortunately, the aforementioned computer that got wiped by my older sister was the one that had a pretty sizeable stockpile of OHRRPGCE demos I downloaded circa 1998-1999. All gone now, of course. :(

I found ANOTHER game I had started developing, around 2002-2003 looks like. This one is just an intro with really basic plotscripting (I sucked at it 12 years ago too, apparently) and I remember I was going to make it a silly joke game prodding at RPG tropes, etc. etc. I probably thought the stuff w...

Found my old 2001 era OHRRPGCE project

Oh man. I found some old CDs that were in a box in my mom's garage when I was visiting for Labor Day weekend... Was going through them last night before bed, and one of them has an unfinished, never released project that I worked on for several months when I was around 16-17. I'm at work now, but I'...
