Thanks, and yeah, I agree about the grass. I'm gonna try it both ways and see how it goes. One odd thing is that the layering doesn't seem to be doing what it did in the other map. On the other one layers 0 and 1 weren't overhead, but layer 2 was, on this one all three are not overhead. I wanted th...

Looks good! I especially like that house. I think the grass tiles are a bit repetitive. To avoid this you can either do a single colour with tufts of grass scattered everywhere like discussed earlier. Or you can reduce the monotony by making some variation grass tiles, or even adding some dirt patch...

@TMC: I'm a little confused as of how to import the palette in to the dither option window in Photoshop. When I click load custom palette it asks me for a .act file, and I have no idea what that is. I suppose I could do the color selection 1 by 1 using the eyedrop tool but I don't have time tonight....

Hey, I think these new screenshots of yours show a huge improvement. I think you're at a good point now where you can go on to build other aspects of your game. Of course you should always post screenshots of everything you do so people can give advice. I especially like the fridge, stove, and couch...

I like it! My battle sprites in my game are basically my walkabouts with their hands raised up to a guard position. I actually think I prefer games where you look the same size in battle as you do in the rest of the game. It's good because it allows you to make enemies look massive in proportion the...

That is pretty cool! Your implementation does look better that the one The Gimp uses. I notice that it dithers the transparent color in the vikings tileset. Optimising dithering is fun. But on the other hand, it's a far better use of time to switch the engine to a 24-bit bitdepth than to work on th...

Is there a deadline for that, or can things be added later? I'm just so damn busy/stressed that I've barely been able to work on my HOTOHR deadlined game, and I feel like I'm really out of practice with spriting. I think I could do something better if I worked up to it. The deadline is basically by...

That Mother 3 shot looks pretty good. I especially like the house. I'll give the grass style a shot, but I think I may want to add a few extra tufts. I'll see if I can't make some of the fixes you mentioned here in a few. I need to take a shower and get some coffee going so I can focus. As far as t...

I love that house! Perhaps someday in the future the OHR will have transparency, but with some extra work it can still be possible to get a foggy effect with opaque pixels. I was recently replaying Faxanadu, and I really love how they managed to fake a fog in some areas of that game. http://strateg...
