Entrepreneur: The Beginning has been in active development for awhile now, and I'm pleased to show off another new feature that I just added this weekend, courtesy of a devious little idea that James planted in my head during an IRC discussion a few weeks ago. Before I show the results of James's s...

Three Months to Go

Just a reminder to everyone that Heart of the OHR 2012 starts three months from this past Thursday (I had meant to post this reminder then, and then forgot about it). Hope you're getting your plans together, for the June-November release window will be on us before you know it. I think many of you w...

Contest Observational Journal, Day 1

I can't believe I forgot that both James and TMC were wrapped up in this contest. Makes me wish I had finished that feature I wanted them to test out in my game a day earlier. Now I may have to wait a week for their opinions. Confound my lateness!

You have to close your parentheses. You're gonna keep getting all sorts of conflicting errors until you do. Remember: if ( condition ) then( stuff ) works better than: if (condition then( stuff ) or: if (condition) then( stuff ALWAYS CLOSE YOUR PARENTHESES! Only then will you see: scripts compiled!

This is acceptable if you're working on Viridia . If you're working on any other game, you should be working on Viridia . But to answer your question... I think cliff shadows would be overkill at this point if you don't already have shadows elsewhere. I'd rather see little sand piles and rock format...

I really like Giz's series. The 48 Hour review might just be one of the best I've ever read (well, I can't call it a review as much as a walk through history, but it's still one of the best accounts of the OHR's past to come around in a long time). This entire series needs to be duplicated for Hamst...

I really don't care a thing about horror games, and I don't usually enjoy the ones I try. But I do think tension is an important part of all games, and if you really want to freak the player out, autosaving really is the way to go. I recently started playing a demo of Jagged Alliance: Back in Action...

What I'd really like is a shot at another ohrrpgce t-shirt. wink wink Coincidentally, Inferior Minion and I were discussing this a week ago. Just like last time, if you want a shirt, you're gonna have to enter the contest. That means releasing a relevant game within the contest window. You'll also ...

Lame on the Legendary Heroes front. That was my favorite game of 2010, and one of a handful I really want to play again. Maybe the developers could consider (if it's even possible) to allow an optional "Save To" feature that allows you to save the game to multiple sources, including backup...

to Pepsi: I was the one (or maybe one of the ones) who mentioned using zones for sound effects and/or music, but this idea for sources sounds much better, AND more intuitive. Ambient sounds came up in the IRC discussion TMC and I had when he was getting the idea to implement zones to make my insane...

I think we should all mob the game at once to give Shiz a proper welcome. Actually, I think we should just find a time that most of us can be on again since it seems the actual "multiplayer" is lately becoming more like "single player on a network." Not that that's a big deal, of...

Cube, by all means bring in your favorite character. Snodrvr hit the nail on the head. Most of us are far enough along that bringing in your normal character should be okay. I will say that your extended absence has warranted a hostile takeover of your house. You are now the property owner of two ch...

I seem to recall fading sound sources being one of the arguments for implementing zones. Mewmew, if fading sound effects isn't implemented in the next few days, what you could do, and this will suck but it'll work, is create several consecutive zone rings around your source (or walls, if your source...
