I can't continue with my idea, the step on activation only work while you move (sometimes) and the touch is too weird, even though I was clearly not touching the npcs, I still activated them. Bleargh.

8-bit sprites are limited to 4 colours, including transparency, so essentially 3 colors + transparency.

I thought those jobs were extinct as of the late 80s...

Haha I'm only familiar with the first 100 or so Pokemon I gave up after Gold/Silver/Crystal. So I don't blame you there! It hasn't been ultra worth it beyond that (though the remake of Gold/Silver is really REALLY good), but the new X and Y version they're coming out with seems to be really cool so...

I've never heard of people having to give zip codes to a gas station. So that's something new to me!
