Formicid Abyssal Knight win! Wow, nice. The servers run a tournament with each new major version, so with the recent release of 0.17, they held one that ended about two weeks ago. I grabbed two wins and came close three more times, but I've still never won with anything more subtle than a deep dwar...

Formicid Abyssal Knight win! Had some really close calls on Vault:5 and Zot:5 but everything else was pretty easy. Zot:5 had at least 5 Orbs of Fire, which seems pretty bogus, but it was exciting. The Formicid is most vulnerable when he cannot run up a set of stairs. I used the Enter the Abyss power...

I made this way too confusing for you guys. I tried to edit out the parts of the script that had nothing to do what I was trying to explain. The actual script about 100 lines long. However, in doing so, I edited out the part where the error actually was. I found the bug while I was trying to figure ...

What simple bug am I overlooking?
This seems really straightforward, but something isn't working and its driving me crazy. Take a look at the script below. This is a (simplified) version of a script in my game. Essentially, there is a 1/5 chance that the PC finds the "vibro" item. Then there is a 1/5 chance that the PC fin...

To be honest I still can hardly remember the difference between alignment and anchor settings without playing with them in the slice editor, and I can't be the only one. I don't think having both alignment and anchor adjustment is useful, at least not both on the target. Logically the alignment sho...

I know you don't like using nightlies, but Kylekrack is surely talking about placing the hero sprites at the bottom of the screen, not drawing them on the backdrop. If the position of the enemy is fixed and there's only one, then you could even just place all the invisible heroes on top of the enem...

I can't help you with that but I just wanted to say I'm trying to make a first person battle system like Void Crypt. I've positioned the hero sprites along the bottom of the screen and they are little faces that serve as representations of the heroes rather than full sprites. That's a good idea! In...

I also have some questions about battle animations. Take a look at the attached screenshot. It shows a large enemy sprite with an attack animation on top of it. If you notice, the attack animation (3 rings) appear in the bottom left corner of the sprite. Is there a way to make them appear in the in ...

I hardly every post but I read the forum daily. It seems to me that there have been less posts and less new games this year. I believe it is because people are working on much larger projects now. The emphasis in the community seems to be making monolithic games (even if most of them never get done)...

Oh, whoops. I decided to double check and discovered I was wrong on one point. Although the countdown is saved in saved games, it's reset (to random(40,160)) when you change map, trigger a battle with a script or textbox, or (surprisingly) dismount a vehicle. I actually just came on here to post th...

There is nothing that resets the random encounter countdown except for a random battle occurring. Even saving and reloading the game does not reset it. All battle formation sets share a single countdown. So one way to 'farm' extremely rare battles is to walk around in areas with common battles unti...

Foemaps
I would like some details about how foemaps work. For instance, there is a foemap in a room. Every tile has random encounters every 7-12 steps, except for one single tile. If the player steps on that tile, and then back onto another tile where encounters are possible, does the 7-12 step counter rese...
