Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. :| I really enjoyed Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. I think people were just put off by comparing it to Final Fantasy 4 and 6. FFMQ has a lot more in common with Romancing Saga 1 than it does with any Final Fantasy. Also, the battle system is extremely close to what appeare...

I just want to ask. Why is everyone putting up teasers of their 8-bit games on the forum? Isn't the point of a compition to hide ones work from an opponent so as to dicourage said opponent from seeing the work and then going and trying to make something better because he/she knows what he/she has t...

Yep :) I used invisible slices as metadata in Crypt of Baconthulhu quite extensively. It works great. Real arrays will be better, but until the become available, hidden slices are the best way to do structured data storage. Much better than read/write global. As for the inventory access, I just need...

For what it's worth, Ronin, I think your hero sprites are pretty good. They are blockey of course, but that is okay for an 8-bit game. And I think their posture actually reminds me of old-fashioned cartoon characters (Steamboat Willy, Bosco, and the like.) I especially like the stepping frame for th...

Sadly I lost a ton of my old archive of RPG files. I remember some of those names, but the only one on your list that I still have a copy of is Edo, and I am not sure if that is the newest version or not.

Yep. I know, but I more meant noir. Obviously it isn't, but the lighting puts me in mind of that.Mogri wrote:Noir means black. I'm not sure what you're getting at here.

-> Mix up the stars. James's games should obviously have miniature Bob the Hamsters. Surlaw should have surlaw heads. RMZ.. Triangles. Or have the game authors be able to upload their own mini graphics for the stars, and have SS use those mini graphics. It'd make things a bit more interesting at le...
