I am still totally puzzled by this. I cannot reproduce the problem. I also can't figure out why the "rm" command I suggested earlier wouldn't work. Could you repeat the command: ls -l ~/.ohrrpgce/_gameplayer/ And let me know if the results are any different than last time? Also, I would be...

This is really strange....

I'll have to do some more tests when I get back to my Mac next week.

Nice! The battles feel really smooth, and the menus look great.

I am looking forward to more :)

Hmmm. that file is definitely old. I am not sure why it is not downloading the new one.

Try:

Code: Select all

rm ~/.ohrrpgce/_gameplayer/ohrrpgce-mac-minimal.tar
And then after that try the distribute menu again and let me know what happens.

Try opening a Terminal. Then do the command: ls -l ~/.ohrrpgce/_gameplayer/ Here is the output I get from that command on my own computer: broasteghost:~ james$ ls -l ~/.ohrrpgce/_gameplayer/ total 32992 -rw-r--r-- 1 james staff 18531 May 21 2012 LICENSE-binary.txt -rw-r--r--@ 1 james staff ...

So it appears that the distribute menu bundled it with a copy of beelzebufo's game instead of the latest nightly wip. That is very strange, because a couple months ago when I used distribute for Crypt of Baconthulhu (which also requires nightly wip features) it used the correct copy of game What is ...

Rather than storing A-Star information in global variables, what about storing it in an empty map layer? That would give you space to store a number between 0 and 255 for every tile on the map. Of course, A-star pathfinding will suddenly get way easier to script someday in the future when we have ar...

Hmmm.... this probably means that I screwed something up.

Can you send me a copy of the tar.gz file that it exported? I can examine it and that should help me figure out what is wrong.

Also, it would help to know whether you exported it from a Windows computer or from a Mac computer.

Very cool, Pepsi! When I first glanced at that screenshot I assumed that the park was afflicted by a Plague of Blood :) The best algorithm for finding a path from one part of the map to another is called A-Star. I have never programmed A-Star pathfinding in plotscripting, but I know other people have.

I think the best thing about contests is that it gives people deadlines and motivates us to work harder-- It would be awesome if we could figure out a way to channel that vibe into just working on finishing out own various projects. That was sort of what the FYDG contest was about, but I don't know ...

Haha! You are on a roll!

These seem somewhat whimsical in comparison to other enemies you have posted. Is this for a special section of the game where the world has gone mad?

I was reading an article about the messy collapse of GAME_JAM written by one of the developers who was participating. In his article, he said a line which I think really nicely stated what a game development community needs in order to thrive Developers don’t just create games – we create an ecosyst...

After I saw he had uploaded part 1 I realized that I was sitting on 3 years worth of un-uploaded bugfixes and small improvements to Wandering Hamster. I uploaded them this weekend-- too Late for his Let's Play, but for the benefit of anybody else who has the urge to re-play
