Oops! Yes, that is basic math! I should know that! Thanks :) script, hero in radius, x, y, radius, begin # X and Y are tile coordinates to check # Radius is distance in tiles variable(xd, yd) xd := hero x(0) -- x yd := hero y(0) -- y ex...

I have seen this both on Windows and Linux. I think all the complains on windows have come from people using the gfx_sdl backend, but I am not 100% certain. Are you sure? I thought that it's only been reported with gfx_directx on Windows, or at least, no backend specified and gfx_directx to be assu...

Have you read anything about the plan for script multitasking? When that is implemented, it will be possible to have a single script control the movements of an NPC without interrupting any other scripts. This will make fancy NPC walking very easy to implement. I think it will be a lot better than a...

If stuff's packaged together won't it hit the size limit on the Android store pretty fast? If the limit's still 50 MB some of these games barely fit individually. That is a good point! The bundled rpgs need to total less than about 42 megabytes zipped. That is another argument in favor of focusing ...

2. It's some tiles I made in the early stages of making non-placeholder maptiles, decided it'd provide enough representation as roof tiles for the time being. I'll modify them soon to look more like a red tile roof, I'll admit they do look rather like bricks at the moment. Also slanting stuff will ...

I am going to try and replicate this key issue in a test FreeBASIC program with no OHR stuff, and see if it's something in FreeBASIC, this could actually be a FreeBASIC bug, and there's nothing that we can really do. Cool, thanks for helping! Remember that for a good test, you will need to use SDL ...

What if you made the leaves on the tree bigger? They look about the same size as the blades of grass

So, my question to you, is does this issue occur in every instance of calling an external program, or is it just when converting MP3s or WAV files? No, it happens seemingly randomly, and not just importing wav and mp3. I have seen it happen when compiling plotscripts 5 or 6 times in the past week. ...

The music DOES bring up a good point though. It's a common practice to rip music here at the OHR. That said, maybe we should just go with that. If that's something we all do then showing that in games would be a good example of what we do here. That said, there are a lot of good open source music s...

Okay, I read everything now Other map tile sizes besides 20x20 is a cool goal. I definitely want to do it in a way that allows you to have different tile sizes in the same game. For example, maybe I might want to re-do my world map in Wandering Hamster to use 16x16 tiles, while leaving all other map...

Although I prefer packaging games individually, this sounds like a great idea for those many smaller games games which are really cool, but aren't big enough to stand alone. I would happily submit Vonstabbingmore and Escape the Wolf for consideration. I agree that we need developer permission for ea...

Re: Ideas on how to implement alternate map tile and NPC siz

I haven't read this giant wall of text yet, it is late, and I need sleep, I will read more tomorrow, but I wanted to stop you on this one early paragraph. My idea on how we could potentially include these features above, but still remain fully backwards compatible, is to use include a new General se...

Yeah, I agree.

I used to get hung up on the idea that changing the frames used for battle animations had to come at the same time as adding more frames, but that was silly, those are two separate tasks.

Good request.

I've decided that I would like to be able to edit screens with the in-game editor. Unfortunately, I can't do this request for the same reason I couldn't do it last time when Meowskivich asked for it. Using the built in editor on a 320x200 sprite will have to wait for a sprite editor re-write, and t...

I dug through this thread an updated the list of requests http://rpg.hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/Heart_of_the_OHR_2014#Entries Lots of very big requests. I will be grateful to anybody who downsizes theirs... and you will be grateful too, since it could mean actually <i>getting</i> your request ;)
