This segment of the game is where lost characters are. If anyone can think of some good characters they'd like to see here, that would be very helpful. I'm prepared to volunteer some Viridia characters. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x98/Baconlabs/V_EvanB.png http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/...

Jump into scripting; it's the part that lets your creativity shine, not just come alive. Can't argue with that. It's an incredible feeling to see your own cutscenes play out before your eyes - it's the main reason why I've decided to continue working with RPGs. I guess I'm being bogged down by the ...

While you're getting adjusted to the engine, don't worry about plotscripts. They aren't necessary to complete a game, and you can work without them for now. (Though, most people will agree, these scripts are the bread and butter of a nifty, polished OHR game) Later, you'll probably want to use scrip...

Everything has a "transparency" color. If you're making the boulder in the map tile editor, just keep the black background (the top-leftmost color on the palette) and draw the boulder in. When you add it to your map, check out the Layers and Tilesets option. Here, you can add and use many ...

The article mentions a high possibility of some new levels, and I saw Igor's ID Card as an item. No word on new weapons or characters, though. Don't be surprised if Balrog's catchphrase changes again.

Quick thing I forgot:
The engine's specialty is, very explicitly, RPGs that look like they were made in the early Nineties - compared to commercial games, the basis feels like a clone of the SNES's Final Fantasy IV.

Is it possible to make non-linear Metroid/Castlevania type games? I've really been wanting to make a story-heavy game based on the Castlevania series. Seriously? I've been thinking of doing something like that on and off for months, but we're probably not in the same boat. You're talking about the ...

Let's add more hype to Cave Story Cave Story Cave Story http://static.gamesradar.com/images/mb/GamesRadar/us/Games/C/Cave%20Story%203D/Bulk%20Viewers/2011-02-10/First_Caves_Alpha_01--article_image.jpg So I tried a 3DS demo at gamestop today. The only familiarity I have with random dungeons comes from Pikmin 2, which used a sort of "hybrid" method. Some dungeons, particularly the easier ones, would be fixed in place. Most of them are randomly generated with each floor you go, with some exceptions, like boss rooms. The enemies a...

Ask as many questions as you can; I'm going to answer as many as I can. But I'm not going to tell you about it. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x98/Baconlabs/005-1.jpg Okay then, let's start with your protagonist. Describe your protagonist. Is it a man, a woman, something else? Is it one person,...
